Our 2026 - 2027 Chapter Retreat was one for the books! Today, brothers gathered for strategic planning, collaboration and team building in preparation for the new fraternal year.

From the installation of the executive board, to team building, to strategic planning, and breakout sessions, brothers were able to communicate effectively and efficiently.

We identified and developed ways to improve communication, strengthen our bond and chapter, and strive for continued success and growth.

This year’s retreat allowed us to dive deeper into new challenges that we face and explore ways to continue to overcome them through brotherhood and unity.

Looking forward to another productive and prosperous fraternal year.

Our annual Executive Board retreat was a success. The leadership team gathered to discuss best practices and strategies for leading with purpose and integrity. The team was able to participate in a team building exercise at The Escape Warehouse where trust, unity and teamwork were essential for a successful completion of the game.

Brothers discussed strategies for engagement, effective communication and teamwork to lead our chapter into the new fraternal year!

Today, the Hammond (LA) Alumni, Nu Omega and Hammond Kappa League participated in the annual Backpack To School Bash at Chappapeela Sports Park sponsored by community organizations and stakeholders to provide school supplies to retuning students in the Hammond area.

Brothers and Kappa Leaguers distributed supplies and interacted with youths and families.

In honor and celebration of Juneteenth & Father’s Day, the brothers of Hammond Alumni gathered at Top Golf for social bonding and fellowship. Despite the weather, brothers were able to enjoy good conversations, good food and golf!

We are pleased to announce our 2025-2025 scholarship award recipients:

Kaden Reed

Kaden Reed is the recipient of the Casper Jackson Scholars Award! Kaden Reed is a 2026 graduate of Kentwood High Magnet School with a 3.95 cumulative GPA and an ACT score of 23. In the fall, he will attend Southern University and A&M College, where he plans to major in Mass Communications.

Kaden has demonstrated outstanding leadership and academic excellence throughout his high school career. His achievements and accolades include being named the 2025–2026 Student of the Year and serving as the 2025–2026 Drum Major of the Kentwood High Marching Band. He also served as National BETA Club President, Peer Mediator, 4-H Club President, founder of the KHMS Interact Club, and Senior Class President.

Jaylen Jackson

Jaylen Jackson is the recipient of the Dario Gomez Legacy Scholarship! Jaylen Jackson is a 2026 graduate of Hammond High Magnet School with a 3.8 cumulative GPA and an ACT score of 18. In the fall, he will attend University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he plans to major in Psychology.

Jaylen has distinguished himself through academic achievement, leadership, and athletic excellence. His accomplishments include being named an LHSAA Indoor State Champion, earning recognition as a Dual Enrollment Scholar, serving as Freshman Student Council President, and leading as Captain of the HHMS Varsity Track and Field team.

We would like to congratulate all of the recipients on their achievements and thank everyone who applied for their interest and participation.

In honor of Mother’s Day, the Hammond (LA) Alumni Chapter and Hammond Kappa League paid respect to the amazing mothers and women at our annual Bell Mason Nursing Home service event.

Brothers and Kappa Leaguers played Bingo with the residents in which they were able to win prizes which included both cash and gifts. In addition, we were able to provide them with red carnations, fruits, warm hugs and a smiling face.

We appreciate the staff and residents for allowing us to continue this partnership and give an extra bit of love to the mothers.

Calling all graduating seniors. The Hammond (LA) Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity is honored to be able to award two recipients with a financial head start to college.

The Dario Gomez Legacy & The Casper Jackson Scholars provides financial support to seniors in honor of their hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence.

To qualify, applicants must be:

✔️Must be a male, high school graduating senior in the Tangipahoa area or surrounding area.

✔️Must be a permanent or legal permanent resident of the United States.

✔️Must plan to or be enrolled in college in the Fall 2026 semester.
Grade point average of an unweighted 3.0 on a 4.0 grading scale.

In honor of Autism Awareness and Acceptance Day, on yesterday, the Hammond (LA) Alumni Chapter and Hammond Kappa League participated in a day of Community Service, Support and Awareness in the Hammond Community.

Brothers and Kappa Leaguers spent the day partaking in activities with children and families in our community and distributing valuable resources to families.

Thanks to all the brothers for their continued support and commitment to families in the community. 👌🏾♦️
