Introducing Louisiana Family Friendly Schools, a new statewide recognition program from the Louisiana Statewide Family Engagement Center (LASFEC) celebrating Louisiana public and charter schools for their commitment to meaningful family engagement.

And here’s the best part: every school has an opportunity to be recognized and supported.

Schools can earn recognition based on where they are in their family engagement journey, with opportunities to grow, access FREE LASFEC support and professional development, and receive a Family Engagement Enhancement Stipend to continue strengthening their work with families.

Because this isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making family engagement a priority, celebrating progress, and continuing to grow.

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Gavin Lewis!

A New Orleans native and proud McDonogh 35 graduate, Gavin brings more than 20 years of experience in education to our Advisory Board. Throughout his career, he has served as a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, and central office leader across a variety of educational settings.

As a father of four, Gavin also brings an important perspective from the parent side of the table. He understands firsthand what meaningful family engagement looks like and believes schools should do more than inform families—they should partner with them.

We are grateful for Gavin’s experience, insight, and commitment to strengthening the connection between schools and families. Thank you, Gavin, for all you do to support family engagement across Louisiana! 💜
