SCH Birth-5 Programs: Schedule & Registration Details

Dear SCH families, School City of Hammond is getting ready to kick off Birth-5 for the 2026-2027 school year! Classes are starting September 16, 2026! This school year we will be offering three different types of sessions for SCH’s Littlest Learners.Below are the different types of Birth-5 opportunities that will be available for the 2026-2027 school year.
On Mondays, we will be offering Birth-5 Family Learning Sessions from 12:00-1:30.

Important Safety Update: Ban on Metal Drink Containers Effective Immediately

Dear SCH Parents/Guardians: As you all know, metal drink containers are very popular among students (i.e., Yeti, Stanley, etc.). Unfortunately, these drink containers are blunt objects that can be used as a dangerous weapon. Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of our scholars, all metal drink containers are banned from all school properties, effective immediately. Community HealthNet Clinic Update

Starting September 8, the clinic at Hammond Central (Door B) is open Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering $10 physicals and no-cost immunizations for students and staff. Walk-ins are welcome, or appointments can be made by calling 219-247-8813.

Happy Labor Day Weekend, School City of Hammond!

As we head into the weekend, we want to thank our incredible teachers, staff, families, and community partners whose hard work makes a difference for our students every single day.
Reminder: All schools and offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday, September 8. Have a safe, restful, and wonderful long weekend!

From welcoming our families back at Back to School Night to opening our doors for the first day of school, the excitement across the School City of Hammond has been incredible!

It was a joy to see our schools filled with smiling faces, supportive families, dedicated staff, and special guests, including Telemundo and Congressman Frank Mrvan, who joined us in celebrating this exciting new beginning.

We are so excited to welcome our students back tomorrow, Wednesday, August 26, for the start of the 2026-2027 school year!

Please remember that tomorrow is an early dismissal day. Regular full days begin on Thursday, August 27 and Friday, August 28.

Wednesday Schedule:

High School
Start time: 7:15 AM
Dismissal: 12:15 PM

Middle School
Start time: 8:00 AM
Dismissal: 1:00 PM

Elementary School
Start time: 9:15 AM
Dismissal: 1:45 PM
