I’m back!!!

Hey y’all!! So I took some time off mainly for mental health reasons. I’ve been working 3 jobs with children for the past 8-9 years! It’s had its ups and down. I’m officially only working 2 jobs now. I had to cut some stress out in my life. Teachers usually only show the good and not the bad. I can tell you my mental health has gotten a lot better. Currently, I’m running my summer camp! It’s a little stressful but I wouldn’t trade it for the world! I absolutely love my job and my life. I now look forward to going to work. Stay tuned on the life of a summer camp director. 🫶🏻

The one where the teacher has to do continuing Ed hours..

Yes, waking up early on a Saturday for a training is no fun! I’ve been doing these training for seven years now. What I have learned over these years are these trainings are only there to help! They are so educational and helpful when trying to work with children. Working with children is aways evolving so that means we always need to keep up! 🤍

Breathing..

I do this with all the children I teach no matter the age! Taking a minute to breathe is very helpful. In circle time I start with breathing to make sure we start the day off calmly. When i’m working with a child that is having an absolute melt down we take some time to breathe. At the end of my dance class I have my dancers lay down and breathe. Deep breathing has been scientifically proven to help with stress and anxiety. Yes, children deal with the same things we do but they can’t express their feelings like we do. Deep breaths helps them stop and gather their thoughts.

This is what I say: Smell the flowers and blow the ballon. They absolutely love that I give them something to picture when doing this exercise. 💕

This is a great representation of how many hours of sleep a child should be getting. Children can get irritable just like adults if they do not get the proper amount of sleep. They need their rest a have a fun and adventurous day! 🤍

Yes, yes & yes!

Children are very impressionable! Whatever you do, they do. So remember to always be that role model they need. They may not get what they need at home. You never know peoples living situation. When those babies come to you they need to see a light. They repeat everything they see and hear. So make sure your impression is a good one! 💕

Let’s talk fine motor skills..

Fine motor skills is something that children should be learning at a very young age. This is so crucial to a childs learning. We take fine motor skills with us all the way to adulthood from writing, coloring or even cutting. It doesn’t matter if you have a 1 year old or an 11 year old they should be working on some age appropriate fine motor skills to help them in the future! 🤍
