đŸš’đŸ”„ KINDERGARTEN IS ON THE MOVE! đŸ”„đŸš’

Our Bulldogs took a little walk down the road for a BIG adventure! Our kindergarten students visited the fire station to learn all about firefighters, fire safety, and the important work they do to keep our community safe.

We may have walked there
but we’re pretty sure our kindergarteners left with their imaginations ON FIRE!

Thank you to HFD Hammond Fire Dept for welcoming our Bulldogs and making learning come to life!

Learning. Exploring. Growing. ALL IN. đŸ’™đŸŸ

Today’s Side-by-Side in Mrs. Lewis’ class was EXTRA special!

Our Bulldogs took center stage as they shared their learning through presentations on Aesop’s Fables
and they absolutely SHINED!

The best part? Mrs. Lewis’ classroom was PACKED with families cheering them on and celebrating their hard work! There’s nothing quite like seeing our students confidently share what they’ve learned with the people who mean the most to them!

A huge THANK YOU to all of our families for showing up, cheering loudly, and being such an important part of our students’ learning journey. And a special shout-out to Mrs. Lewis and her Bulldogs for making today one to remember!

This is what being ALL IN looks like.

Ms. Massa’s 5th grade students are getting the hang of Modern Classroom!!!

What does a Modern Classroom look like?

It’s a classroom where students aren’t just sitting and listening, they’re thinking, collaborating, creating, problem-solving, and taking ownership of their learning. Ms. Massa guides and supports students while creating opportunities for them to learn in ways that work best for them.

We have been LOVING having our families in the building for our Side-by-Sides this week! Tomorrow we’ll wrap up a wonderful week of families joining their Bulldogs in the classroom and experiencing a little piece of their school day alongside them.

Do you see anyone you recognize?!

A HUGE thank-you to all of our families who took time out of their busy schedules to learn, participate, read, solve, create, and simply be part of the learning happening at Burns-Hicks. Your presence means so much to our students
and it strengthens the partnership between home and school!

At Burns-Hicks, we truly believe that when families and schools work together, our Bulldogs thrive.

And remember
our doors are always open! We LOVE having our families volunteer, visit, share a talent, read a story, help in classrooms, or simply be part of our school community. If you’d like to get involved, let us know! There is always a place for you at Burns-Hicks.

Thank you for being ALL IN with us!
Every Bulldog. Every Day.

College, Go! Week at Burns-Hicks!

Our younger Bulldogs had a special guest this week! Auburn, an Undergraduate Admission Specialist from Purdue University Northwest, joined us to share a special story and fun activities with our students.

We love giving our Bulldogs opportunities to connect with members of our community and start building an early excitement for their future!

And let’s be real
what kid doesn’t love a guest reader?!

Thank you, Auburn, and Purdue Northwest, for spending time with our Bulldogs! We loved having you!

Celebrating Our Bulldogs, 9.25!

Today, the Burns-Hicks Admin Team had a little fun showing some BIG appreciation for the people who make our school so special, our amazingly incredible staff!

In honor of 9/25 and Dolly Parton’s iconic “9 to 5,” we rolled through the building with the Dolly Cart to remind our staff that the work they do every day matters, and that they are appreciated more than they know!

Mrs. Stokes and Ms. Hawkins want to give a SPECIAL shout-out to the entire Burns-Hicks team! Our staff has started this school year with so much energy, dedication, and heart. We are incredibly proud of the way they continue to show up for our students and for one another.

Great schools are built by great people and we are so lucky to have ours!

Take a look at some of the fun from today! ✹
