Congratulations to Dr. Laura Fazio-Griffith as she has been promoted to Full Professor. She was honored at Southeastern Louisiana University's Fall Convocation on Friday, August 14th. What an incredible accomplishment!

As we start our Fall 2026 semester, we would like to first welcome our newest faculty member, Dr. Rachel Rachlinski.

Dr. Rachlinski is an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Counseling Program, where she brings a deep passion for animals and the human-animal bond to her work in counselor education. She holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of New Orleans and a Post-Master's Certificate in Human-Animal Interaction from the University of Denver, and her research and clinical practice center on the ethical and therapeutic use of animals in mental health counseling. Outside the classroom, she can often be found spending time with her dogs and tending her garden, a hobby that mirrors her belief in the quiet, restorative power of nurturing living things.

Please help us welcome Dr. Rachel Rachlinski! We are so excited that you are joining our faculty here at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Some of our students had the wonderful opportunity to learn the counseling isn't confined to a room and learned about Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). Thank you to Patchwork Grove Counseling and Wellness for hosting our students and providing a space for us to learn about different modalities for counseling.

We also recognized Stan Hamilton with Outstanding Graduate Student and Bella Dubay with Outstanding Professional Involvement. Thank you both for your demonstration of commitment to the field and building of community.
