Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana

Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana has served the community since 1957.

We believe that positive mental health can be achieved by removing barriers limiting a person's full potential. Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana (MHANWI) is committed to a leadership role in improving the quality of life for Northwest Indiana families through:

- Prevention-focused home visitation services for families
- Outreach and advocacy to promote overall well-being
- Education of the community regarding the promotion of good mental health
- Referral for high-quality, culturally-competent integrated mental health services

By doing so, we will be a role model for other mental health associations and will promote a just, humane, and healthy community in which all people are accorded respect, dignity, and the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

To all the frontline workers across Northwest Indiana who are out in the field restoring power, clearing damage, and supporting our communities after this week’s devastating storms — thank you. Your commitment, grit, and long hours are helping our region find its footing again, and we are deeply grateful.

As our community continues to navigate outages, displacement, and uncertainty, we also want to acknowledge the mental and emotional toll moments like this can bring. Stress, frustration, and fatigue are normal responses in a crisis — and it’s important to be patient with one another and with ourselves as we move through this. If you or someone you know needs immediate mental health support, 988 is available 24/7 for anyone experiencing emotional distress or needing someone to talk to.

Due to the widespread power and weather emergency in NWI, which has impacted MHANWI offices, our team is working largely remote but are in close contact with one another to continue serving our clients. Our response times may be slightly slower than usual, and we appreciate your patience as we work through these challenges alongside the rest of our community.

We’re wishing everyone safety, strength, and steady resolve as we all work together to weather this newest storm. Northwest Indiana is resilient, and we’ll get through this — together.
