🍂 We’ve made it to the midpoint, Lions! 🦁

Today marks the last day of Term I classes and the midpoint of the Fall semester, which means Fall Break is here! University offices will be closed Thursday and Friday for the break, but several resources remain available to students. Check out this post’s carousel for information, or visit Roomie’s Pride Pantry at for details.

I hope our students take some time over the break to rest, recharge and enjoy a well-earned pause before we head into the second half of the semester.

And when we return, Homecoming takes center stage at Southeastern! 🎭🦁

From Oct. 12-17, Roomie on Broadway brings a week of Lion Pride, favorite traditions and plenty of reasons to come together on campus as we celebrate the Southeastern’s Next 100.

From events like Minute to Win It and Lip Sync to Gumbo YaYa and Throwback Thursday, there’s plenty to look forward to before the Homecoming Parade and tailgate on Oct. 17, featuring , followed by Lion Football vs. Lamar to wrap up the week! 🏈

Whether you’re traveling, spending time with family and friends or staying close to campus over the break, take care of yourself, make safe choices and come back ready for a great Homecoming week and a strong second half of the semester.

Good afternoon, Lions! Happy !

Today’s featured Lion is Stephanie Mendoza from Gonzales! Stephanie is a senior majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Health Promotion, and is expected to graduate in May 2027.

At Southeastern, Stephanie has been involved in several organizations and leadership roles. She currently serves as the Data Analyst and Evaluator for the Campus Activities Board, where she collects and analyzes student feedback to ensure every event hosted is satisfactory.

Keeping herself involved, Stephanie serves as an Ambassador, Secretary, and Social Media Coordinator for the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. She also runs public relations for the Kinesiology and Health Human Sciences Association and is a member of the Phi Epsilon Kappa Honor Society.

Stephanie has been awarded the Jackie Dale Thomas Green “S”, Dean’s List, President’s List, and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences Ambassadors MVP. She is currently nominated for the Louisiana Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators Scholarship; Wish Stephanie luck!

Stephanie shares, “As a senior looking back at my first year at Southeastern, I honestly never would have imagined that I would be where I am today. Southeastern helped me find my place, step outside of my comfort zone, discover my strengths, and truly feel like I belonged on campus.”

💚💛 Throughout the semester, Lion Up Tuesday will be a chance to spotlight students and members of the campus community showing their Lion Pride by wearing green and gold.

Of course, Lion Pride is never limited to just one day of the week. Whether it’s Tuesday or any day, wear that green and gold proudly...you never know when you might be spotted and featured in a future post.

Hello, Lions...
It’s time for Meet A Lion Monday, and today’s featured Lion is Darci Lourigan from Franklington. Darci is a senior majoring in Sports Communication and expects to graduate in December 2026.

She currently serves as Toastmasters President and works as a News and Sports Reporter for KSLU Radio. She won Student Radio Broadcaster of the Year from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters this year.

Darci spent her summer in New York interning with Robin Roberts for ABC’s Good Morning America. She gained hands-on experience working on stories and producing segments for national television.

Darci shares, “One of my most meaningful Southeastern experiences was interviewing Robin Roberts for the opening of the Robin Roberts Broadcast Media Center. Having someone who started her career in Louisiana become one of the country’s recognizable journalists made that moment especially meaningful.”
