FIRST Torbotics Team 2080

10/07/2026

Twenty years of students walking into the shop and finding a place to build, learn, compete, grow, and become part of something bigger than themselves.

The robots have changed. The games have changed. The shop has changed. But for two decades, generations of students have left their mark on Torbotics, and helped shape the team we are today.

As we celebrate 20 years, we want to hear from the people who helped write our story. If you’re a Torbotics alum, no matter when you were on the team or where life has taken you since, send us a DM! We’d love to reconnect and celebrate this milestone with you. 💜

Here’s to 20 years behind us, and everything still ahead.

Another Tuesday in the shop!

The shop was full of conversations, questions, and plenty of “wait, what if we tried this?” moments today. We love afternoons like this where students can work through ideas together, learn from each other, and turn those ideas into something real.

There’s always something new taking shape around here, and we’re excited to see where all of this work takes us. Special thanks to our alumni mentors who have been joining us for our regular meetings in order to share their skills and support of our new members.

Torbotics had the chance to share its longstanding tradition of parade going fun by rolling in the state’s oldest running parish fair parade this morning. This year’s theme for the Tangipahoa Parish Fair was “Rooted in Tradition.” Even our beloved Na’TORius got in step with the theme donning some strong purple roots as it took a spin down the parade route to engage with parade and fair goers!

Seeing the community cheer, kids pointing in awe, and the robot rolling smoothly alongside the floats always lights up some inspiration among our team members and mentors.
Shoutout to the everyone who helped get NaTORius and our float parade ready, and a huge thank you to everyone who cheered us on! Engineering the future of our region, one parade at a time. 🛠️💨

Community collaborations at their best! Over the past few months, we have had a special visitor in our shop. Today that visitor had the opportunity to be reunited as good as new with its owner in preparation for the upcoming Fire Prevention Week! We were honored to have the ponchatoulafiredept entrust us with their much loved animatronic, Patches, which our team members and students diagnosed and treated for some electrical complications. It was a great real world experience for our students as they worked to troubleshoot and find solutions to get Patches up and running and ready for its many engagements over the next few weeks.

Our students were excited to share their hard work to refurbish two different animatronics for our local fire departments. Pluggie and Patches are now ready for delivery just in time for fire prevention week!

Another busy afternoon in the Torbotics shop! We loved having one of our alumni stop by for a visit while our FTC teams finished up their team shirt designs and everyone continued getting things ready for next week’s parade.

We’re getting pretty excited to take Torbotics out of the shop and into the streets next week!

It’s all in the details.

Yesterday’s meeting was one of those days where you could see ideas taking shape all around the shop. Students and mentors were deep in conversation, working through problems, learning new skills, and turning a lot of small moments into real progress.

There’s always something being built at Torbotics, and it isn’t always the robot.

That’s a wrap on our 9th Annual FLL Jumpstart!

Today, we welcomed FIRST LEGO League teams, coaches, families, and community members to Hammond High Magnet School for an afternoon of learning, sharing, and getting ready for the season ahead.

Teams had the opportunity to explore programming, robot design, game strategy, team development, research, and innovation while learning alongside Torbotics students, mentors, coaches.

For nine years, Jumpstart has been about creating a space where FLL teams can ask questions, try new things, meet other teams, and leave a little more prepared for the season than when they walked in. One of our favorite parts is watching our Torbotics students turn around and share what they’ve learned with the next generation of FIRST students.

A huge thank you to every professional, mentor, volunteer, coach, family, Torbotics member, and FLL team who spent their Saturday with us. You made year nine a special one.

We can’t wait to see what all of these teams do with Bioglow this season. See you around the field! 💜

A-to-Z: Exploring Careers in STEM

The season doesn’t build itself.

Today our FTC teams were busy deciding what they want this season to look like, from setting team goals and making plans to designing logos and this year’s team shirts.

Meanwhile, FRC was putting in some serious preseason work. Students prepped machines and tools, updated judging documents, and kicked off our annual data collection as we start building the story of Team 2080’s year.

A little design, a little data, a lot of prep, and plenty happening behind the scenes at Torbotics.
