Today was a pretty great day in the shop!

We welcomed potential new members for our 2026–2027 Torbotics Interest Meeting, and they got a little taste of what being part of this team is really like.

Of course, we had plenty of fun along the way.

But underneath all of the robots, competitions, travel, late nights, and slightly questionable amounts of zip ties is something bigger. Torbotics is about learning how to build things, solve problems, work with people, step outside your comfort zone, and become part of a team that expects you to show up for each other.

To everyone who came out today: we’re so glad you were here. Whether you walked in already knowing exactly what you wanted to do or had absolutely no idea what FTC or FRC even stood for, we hope you left excited about what this season could hold.

And to our returning Torbots who helped welcome the next group into our slightly chaotic robotics family, thank you.

Here’s to new faces, new teams, new ideas, and the chance to continue to advance our efforts to !

This afternoon marked T-minus 1 day and counting until the launch of our 2026 New Member Interest Meeting! Team members used every moment possible to work on making final preparations for this meeting as they gear up for the launch of FTC season amid supporting a wide range of school-based and community FLL Challenge teams. We can’t wait to see what the rest of this season has in store!

Do you have a student (age 9-14) who is ready to build, code, and have fun as part of a team? We want to work with curious minds in grades 4-8 to design robots, solve real-world problems, and compete with friends as part of one of our community FLL Challenge teams. No experience is needed. A willingness to work and grow alongside others is a must. We are holding our annual interest meeting for students and families this Friday from 5-6pm. The start to the new school year already has us prepping for the much anticipated start to two new robotics build seasons: FLL and FTC . It’s only fitting that we are ushering in a new habitat for our teams as we delve deep into learning more about the impact and interconnectedness of different biomes on others this year. With both sets of teams welcoming in new members next week, the past few days have been a good chance for reflection and organization.

A new season is starting to take shape at Hammond High!

At today’s meeting, our FTC teams jumped into some preseason organization and clean-out before turning our attention to what’s ahead. We talked about our passion projects for this season, shared some ideas for the year, and started getting everything ready for our Student Interest Meeting next Thursday, August 20th!

There’s a lot to look forward to this year, and we’re excited to welcome some new faces into the Shop and see where this season takes us.

This afternoon we had a great time meeting incoming students and families at the Hammond High Meet & Greet. Our robot was on display, and we loved sharing what makes Torbotics so much more than just a robotics team.
