🔴 One Year Since I Stood on the Red Dot!

One year ago, I had the incredible opportunity to stand on the TEDxGary stage and share a message close to my heart: the transformative power of mentorship.

Looking back, I am grateful to God for the opportunity to use my voice, share my journey, and encourage others to SHOW UP and make a difference.

A year later, the message still resonates with me. Mentorship matters. Presence matters. Showing up matters.

The message didn’t end when I stepped off that stage. It’s one I continue to strive to live out every day.

Still reflecting on an incredible September 19 at IMS! 🏁✨

This marked my third annual STEM/STEAM experience at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, bringing Northwest Indiana scholars together with TRIO, ETS Hammond, Jimmie McMillian of Penske Entertainment, IU Health, Nakeisha Washington of Nyla Nova STEMversity, Dara Adams and an amazing group of speakers, interns, educators, and partners.

For our scholars, this is what it’s all about: exposure, access, and experience. Showing them new spaces, new careers, and new possibilities. ❤️

And we’re already planning Year 4 in 2027! Our LEGO experience and museum tour are already in the works, along with more Next Scholar Up! programming, tutoring, test prep, career exploration, and STEAM opportunities.

Tutoring Grant Funds Extended 💰💰

Next Scholar Up! is excited to continue serving as an Indiana Learns Learning Partner for the Indiana Learns Strong Start program!

If your student participated in the 2025–2026 Indiana Learns program, they may be eligible for an additional $200 tutoring grant to receive tutoring during August 2026.

📅 Key Dates:
✅ July 24: Eligible families can begin scheduling tutoring sessions.

✅ August 1–31: Tutoring sessions take place.

✅ August 14: Schedule at least 3 tutoring sessions by this date to keep your grant.

✅ August 31: All tutoring sessions must be completed.

Whether your child needs support in reading, math, or building confidence before the new school year begins, Next Scholar Up! is here to help.
