Two cadets (CDT Sonnier and CDT Jefferson) recently achieved air assault qualification, marking a significant milestone in their military training. This rigorous course tested their physical endurance, mental toughness, and technical skills. Completing it not only demonstrates their dedication and capability but also enhances their operational readiness. Their success reflects their commitment and potential as future leaders in the military. 🦁 LION UP 🦁

Patriot Day gives all of us time to reflect on the devastating terror attacks that took nearly 3,000 lives. We commemorate those who we lost and give thanks to the brave first responders who put their lives on the line.
Please join us on campus as we raise the flag.

Last week on 2 February we were able to recognize two outstanding members of Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) for their exemplary efforts and support of the Southeastern Louisiana University Army Reserve Officer Training Program (ROTC) and the Louisiana Army National Guard! These two individuals were Dr. William Robison, the head of the History Department at SLU, and Ms. Cheryl Cannon, the History Department’s Campus Coordinator. Over the last seven years, SLU Army ROTC has received support from all sides, from our incredible Host School, Southern University, through whom we are allowed to contract our cadets; to amazing SLU Army ROTC Alumni who fight to make everything we dream up come to reality. However, if it were not for the constant support of Dr. Robison and Ms. Cannon, our program would not have grown from the handful of cadets we had in 2016, to the 43 cadets that currently stand in our formations. They have assisted with everything from curriculum planning, to classroom provision. Their support of our cadre and students has been ceaseless over the years. For their exceptionally meritorious service and outstanding support Dr. Robison and Ms. Cannon were awarded with the Louisiana Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. This medal was approved by Major General Keith Waddell, the Adjutant General of the Louisiana National Guard, and presented by the Command Staff of the Recruitment & Retention Battalion of the Louisiana Army National Guard. Dr. Robison and Ms. Cheryl's commitment to excellence allowed the SLU Army ROTC Program to flourish, resulting in 17 officers being commissioned in the last seven years with many future officers on the way. It is only because of their efforts, and the efforts of those like them who support our program that we are able to successfully do what we do every year in training the future leaders of the United States Army. Thank you, Dr. Robison and Ms. Cheryl, for all your hard work. We look forward to many more successful years! Lion Up!
