The Hammond Community Library does a fantastic job setting up an Easter egg hunt experience that is welcome to all. The egg hunt is going consistently instead of set start and stop times making it easy to go at your own pace. Prize bags are given out to everyone instead of inside the eggs and non food prizes are available for those with food sensitivities! A sensory friendly time slot is available for those who need it! No pre registration required. I will be there with a sensory pool and I can’t wait to see you!

Feel the Spooky at the Hammond Community Library is today 3pm-6pm! See you there!

We are thrilled to be bringing back our Feel the Spooky event to Hammond Community Library in Hammond WI. This event is tailored to include kids or parents impacted by SPD or food sensitivities and their families. We welcome members of our community to join us and support those in our community.

We are taking advantage of this warm weather to take as many nature walks as possible! We usually walk around our neighborhood or at a local park and talk about what we see and hear. Today we walked around our backyard so that I could show you what types of things we saw and talked about. We practiced our colors, felt the difference between green grass and brown crunchy leaves under our feet, turned crunchy leaves into confetti, admired the variety in the rocks and the softness of one of our chickens feathers, and discovered that the ripe tomato from the garden cracked when my youngest dropped it. Little ones can learn so much by experiencing the different feel of these in their fingers or on their feet. We had so much fun and hope that you do to! What will you find?

Last weekend we had an amazing time ! We love it there for the organic berries and sunflowers throughout the summer but we go extra times in the fall for all of the fun extra activities! It’s an affordable way to get a wide variety of sensory experiences! They have bouncy houses, tire mountains for climbing, bubble station, duck races, multiple corn pits with toys for the best sensory bin, and a new hay pit which the kids love! The kids and I are testing out ideas for our October Events! We are thrilled to be partnering with the of Hammond WI for our Feel the Spooky event Saturday October 28! This event was a hit last year for having fun sensory experiences, inclusive of families impacted by SPD or food sensitivities, and having non-food treats that everyone can enjoy!

Toddlers are often picky eaters and this can be worse if they have food sensitivities, allergies, or sensory concerns. One way I work with these needs is I shop for local produce when it’s available at farm stands and farmers markets. The other thing I do is I let my kids help pick out what we buy. This creates interest and helps them to be willing to try whatever they picked out even if it’s something they’ve never tried before. Sometimes it still takes a few tries so don’t be discouraged if this doesn’t help the first time. I saw had their squash out and I can’t wait to let our kids pick one out!

Our family loves going to farmer’s markets and farm stands. Last week Liam picked out zucchini for us to make zucchini muffins and I could not pass up these beautiful heirloom tomatoes! Thank you Barlow Roots!
