Congratulations to Dr. Mark Krekeler and his team on the final publication of his remote-sensing research for emergency response. This effort was funded by a $547,000 National Institute of Justice grant and represents over seven years of extensive collaboration with Miami Regionals students, alums, technicians, and nonprofit and business collaborators. This freely available research exemplifies the ongoing intersection of research, teaching, and service conducted at Miami Regionals.

Congratulations Kinshuk
Congratulations to undergraduate student Kinshuk Tella on being the recipient of an upcoming summer 2021 internship with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (an affiliate of General Atomics) based in Palmdale, California! 🥳 As an Environmental Intern, Kinshuk will focus on Environmental Regulation and Compliance assisting staff environmental engineers with development/revision of environmental programs, policies and procedures as related to hazardous materials, hazardous waste and minimization, sustainability, storm water and air quality to assist with the compliance of applicable federal , state and local regulations. In addition, Kinshuk will assist with AVAQMD (Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District) and MDAQMD (Mojave Desert Air Quality Management District) permits and associated Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) calculation logs and record keeping.

From studying the safety of yellow traffic paint to the use of gold and rare earth by-products, Dr. Mark Krekeler, Miami Regionals associate professor of geology, has led research in places like Pennsylvania, Nevada, Idaho and Algeria, that has impact across the region. We are excited to share that TRIO Student Support Services has been awarded a $1.3 million U.S. Department of Education grant to assist students in graduating.
