a BIG SJCS thank you to Hamilton Fire Station 22 for comin gto present to our students at SJCS last week! The firefighters put on their gear to show us what they look like all dressed up so the kids won’t be afraid of them. Then, we got to see the fire truck and see some of the tools they keep on their truck for emergency situations. Thank you, HPD! Thank you again to Chief Dave Holzberger, Lieutenant Heather Garcia, Firefighter Jake Quinn, Driver Jeff Conn and Fire Investigaror Trevor Snider for visiting!

Sixth grade replicated an activity from their class novel. In “Esperanza Rising” the main character and her mother make a yarn doll for a young child on a train. The young girl does not have a lot and is extremely grateful for the yarn doll. Esperanza begins to see the importance of small acts of kindness through this exchange. Mrs. Estridge’s class made their own yarn dolls in class as an extension of the story. 📚
