We wrapped up our Storytelling Unit this week by partnering with the Lane Public Library for campfire stories, storytelling, and crafts!

We're proud to celebrate our New Miami Vikings Athlete of the Month winners for the month of May! Congratulations to Noah Adams (boys varsity track and field) and Mariah Powell (girls varisty softball). Special thanks to Century 21 Real Estate for sponsoring this award and for providing the t-shirt and a Cane's gift card to our athletes!

Fire Incident at New Miami Middle/High School Cafeteria

Earlier this evening, emergency personnel responded to a fire incident at the New Miami Middle School/High School cafeteria area. Preliminary information indicates the fire is suspected to have originated from an HVAC unit located on the roof of the building.

The incident resulted in smoke and water damage within the middle school/high school cafeteria area. Fortunately, no students, staff, or community members were in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

Local fire departments responded quickly and were able to contain the situation safely. District administrators are currently working closely with fire officials, maintenance personnel, and insurance representatives to assess the extent of the damage and determine next steps for cleanup and restoration.

“At this time, our primary focus is the safety of our students, staff, and community, as well as ensuring the building can be safely restored for continued operations,” said Superintendent. Rhonda Parker.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Additional information regarding building access, school operations, and any schedule adjustments will be communicated to families and staff as updates become available.

The district would like to thank the responding fire departments and emergency personnel for their swift response and professionalism.

Congrats to our Vikings varsity track and field athletes Noah Adams and Isaiah Johnson who both qualified for the regional meet in Chillicothe this week! Noah will compete in the long jump tonight and Isaiah will compete in shot put on Saturday.

Vikings softball will take on Southeastern HS today, Monday, May 25th at 11 am. The game will be played at Batavia HS Holman Athletic Complex, located at 1 Bulldog Pl., Batavia, OH 45103.

Tickets are available for cash at the gate or online in advance at ohsaa.org. Adults - $10, students - $5.

Varsity softball has once again been rained out today, Saturday, May 23. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, May 25 at 11 am. The game will now be played at Batavia HS. More info to follow…
