Obituary
Bubba the Bronc Boa, the beloved biology classroom snake of Hamilton High School, peacefully passed away from natural causes on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was believed to be 28 years old. In “human years” he was over 100 years of age.
Not much was known about Bubbas early years. He was donated to Hamilton High School in 1993 by a community member at the approximate age of five and lived in the biology room for the remainder of his life. At the time of his death, he reached a length of 9 feet and weighed 40 lbs. This Red Tailed Boa Constrictor brought joy and fascination to over 3,000 students. Bubba enjoyed teaching students about the “circle of life” during feeding times and never hesitated to be held by students for a photograph. Bubba was an accomplished science student sitting through 6 sections of biology every day for the past 23 years. He generously spent time tutoring parseltongued students that needed extra help in biology. Bubba the Bronc Boa was a lifetime member of the HHS Science Club and an avid supporter Envirothon and Science Olympiad teams over the past two decades. This fixture of the Hamilton High science department will be missed.
The funeral service will be sponsored by the Hamilton High Science Club. The date of the service will be announced after school resumes this August. In lieu of flowers, it was Bubba’s wishes that donations be made to his favorite organization, the HHS Science Club c/o Hamilton High School.
