🇺🇸 See You at the Pole 🇺🇸

This morning, students, staff, and families gathered at the flagpole for See You at the Pole.

It was a special opportunity for members of our school community to come together, pause, reflect, and support one another as we begin another school day.

We are grateful for our students, our families, our staff, and the strong community that makes New York R-IV such a special place. ❤️💛

📚 Learning Together. Growing Together.

Our New York R-IV teachers had the opportunity to attend ElevateEd: Small Schools, BIG Success! yesterday, joining nearly 600 educators from across the Northwest Region for a day focused on professional learning, collaboration, and the unique opportunities and challenges of rural schools.

The day included an inspiring keynote from Josh Varner on trauma-informed care, along with more than 75 breakout sessions covering a wide range of topics designed to strengthen teaching and better support our students.

We are proud of our teachers for taking the time to learn, collaborate, and bring new ideas back to our school. In a small school like New York R-IV, every opportunity to grow makes a difference!

A big thank-you to everyone who worked to make ElevateEd possible. We are grateful to be part of a community of educators who believe in the power of Small Schools, BIG Success! 💚💛

🌱 Growing Opportunities at New York R-IV! 🌱

We are excited to celebrate a new addition to our school that will provide our students with opportunities to learn, explore, and grow!

Through an MFA grant, along with the generous support of the New York R-IV Alumni Foundation, our school was able to purchase a greenhouse for our students! 🏡🌱

This greenhouse will become a hands-on learning space where students can experience the entire growing process—from planting seeds and caring for plants to learning about soil, water, weather, sustainability, nutrition, and agriculture.

More importantly, it gives our students the opportunity to take what they learn in the classroom and put it into practice. Science, math, responsibility, teamwork, and problem-solving will all come together in this living laboratory.

We are incredibly grateful to MFA and the New York R-IV Alumni Foundation for investing in our students and helping make this opportunity possible.

At New York R-IV, we may be a small school, but we have BIG dreams for our students. And now, we have a greenhouse to help those dreams grow! 🌱💛🖤

🐾💛🖤 WELCOME BACK, BULLDOG FAMILIES! 🖤💛🐾

Families, WELCOME BACK! ❤️

Thank you for sharing your students with us once again. It truly is an honor to welcome your children through our doors each morning and to be a part of their lives as they learn, grow, and discover who they are.

Today officially marked the first day of the 2026–2027 school year, and what a wonderful day it was!

There is something special about the first day of school. It is a day filled with excitement, anticipation, a few nerves, and so many possibilities. For some of our students, today was their very first day as a Bulldog. For others, it was the beginning of another year of friendships, learning, and memories. No matter where they are in their journey, we are grateful to have each of them as part of our school family.

To our students: Thank you for being you. Thank you for bringing your smiles, your personalities, your curiosity, and your Bulldog spirit into our building today. We are so happy to have you back, and we cannot wait to see how much you learn and grow this year. 💛

To our teachers and staff: Thank you for opening your hearts and classrooms to our students. The time, care, preparation, and love you pour into our Bulldogs does not go unnoticed. You help make our school a place where children feel safe, valued, encouraged, and loved.

And to our families: Thank you for trusting us with your children. We know there is no greater responsibility than caring for and educating your child. We are grateful for your partnership, your support, and the confidence you place in our school each day.

Today was only the beginning.

🌙🐾 ‘Twas the Night Before School at New York R-IV 🐾💛🖤

‘Twas the night before school, and all through the halls,
The staff was still working behind classroom walls.
The rooms had been readied, the floors had been swept,
And somehow the summer had suddenly left!

Mrs. Grant was the first, with her classroom in sight,
Getting lower elementary ready just right.
Her lessons were planned, her supplies were in place,
Tomorrow her Bulldogs will fill up that space! 📚

Mrs. Hughes had her classroom all ready to go,
With lessons and plans for her students to know.
Higher elementary will soon fill her room,
With learning and laughter that’s sure to bloom!

Ms. Moon had her math plans all lined up in rows,
With numbers and problems and places to go.
She checked them once more, then checked them again,
Because tomorrow the math lessons begin! ➗

Mrs. Grassie had Social Studies ready to roll,
With history and places and stories to tell.
She’ll take her Bulldogs through time and through space,
While helping them learn at their own special pace.

Mrs. Norton had ELA ready to start,
With reading and writing and plenty of heart.
With books to be opened and stories to share,
She’ll help every Bulldog grow stronger with care. 📖

Ms. Ragsdale had science all ready tonight,
With questions and wonders and experiments right.
There’s plenty to learn and discover and do,
And she’s ready to see what her Bulldogs pursue! 🔬

Mrs. Gasper was busy, as always, you see,
Cooking and cleaning as busy as can be.
She drives the bus, too, and keeps things on track—
At New York R-IV, she somehow does all that! 🚌🍎🧹

Mrs. Reed was in the office, making things right,
Checking the details and working tonight.
With paperwork, phones, and a million small things,
She keeps our school running with all that she brings! 📋

And Dr. O’Neal made one final round,
Checking each classroom and looking around.
He checked every hallway and peeked through each door,
Then probably found something that needed one thing more! 😂

The teachers were ready, the staff was prepared,
The classrooms were waiting, the Bulldog flag flared.
The building was quiet, the halls were all still,
But tomorrow would bring us a wonderful thrill.

For tomorrow the halls will be filled once again,
With students and teachers and old and new friends.
With backpacks and Chromebooks and laughter and cheer,
We’ll officially welcome a brand-new school year!

There’ll be questions and learning and maybe some tears,
There’ll be smiles and surprises and memories for years.
There’ll be books to be opened and lessons to teach,
And plenty of goals for our Bulldogs to reach.

We may be a school that is little in size,
But BIG are the dreams that we hold in our eyes.
Our staff may be small, but our hearts are quite wide,
And we’re ready to walk with our Bulldogs beside.

Because that’s what makes New York R-IV special and true—
We know every student, and we care about you. ❤️
We celebrate every success, every goal,
And work together to make our little school whole.

So tonight, as our staff finally heads home to rest,
We know tomorrow we’ll give it our best.
The classrooms are ready, the Bulldog spirit is strong,
And it won’t be too long till our students come along!

So charge up your Chromebook and pack up your gear,
Because the first day of school is finally here! 💻🎒
Set your alarm and get plenty of sleep,
Tomorrow our Bulldogs will come in with a leap!

🐾7 DAYS🐾

Seven days until our hallways are filled with little voices again.

Seven days until we hear footsteps running down the halls, laughter coming from classrooms, and the familiar sounds that remind us why we love this place so much. 🖤💛

Right now, the building is quiet.

But if you’ve ever been part of New York R-IV, you know that quiet never lasts long. 😉

Soon, our teachers will be greeting their students.
Our students will be catching up with friends.
Someone will be telling a funny story in the hallway.
Someone will be nervous about a new grade.
Someone will need a little extra encouragement.
And someone will walk through our doors not realizing just how much they are about to grow this year.

And that’s what makes our school special.

We are a small school.

Really small.

But that means we get to know our kids in a way that is hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it.

We see them grow from little Bulldogs into confident young people.

We celebrate the big moments, and the little ones.

We notice when someone is having a hard day.

We cheer when someone finally gets it.

We laugh together.

We sometimes worry together.

And when one of our Bulldogs succeeds, we all celebrate.

Because at New York R-IV, you’re not just a student.

You’re one of ours. 🐾

And to our teachers and staff who are getting everything ready behind the scenes, thank you. Thank you for preparing your classrooms, planning your lessons, organizing, cleaning, worrying about the details, and getting ready to give our kids your very best.

To our families, thank you for trusting us with what matters most.

And to our Bulldogs…

We miss you.

The building just isn’t the same without you.

So enjoy these last 7 days of summer.

Make some memories. Sleep in a little. Have some fun.

Because in 7 days, the doors open…

And our school comes alive again. 🖤💛
