Heads up, Veterans and families: a new mail scam is targeting Veterans with official-looking postcards promoting a fake "Veterans Savings Program."
The postcards claim Veterans and spouses may qualify for up to $185 a month in additional VA benefits — including CHAMPVA, TRICARE, and dental coverage — regardless of disability rating. Scammers imply a VA connection and pressure recipients into calling within five days and sharing personal information like Social Security numbers and birth dates.
VA has received reports of this scam in multiple states, including Iowa, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.
Protect yourself: never share personal or financial info with unverified contacts, don't act on urgent unsolicited requests, and don't call the number or click any links on a suspicious postcard, email, text, or call. When in doubt, contact VA directly at 1-800-MyVA411 (698-2411). Additional resources in the comments.

FREE Veterans Golf Clinic – September 19

The Cincinnati VA Medical Center, in partnership with PGA HOPE, is hosting its annual Veterans Golf Clinic on Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Reeves Golf Course.

Veterans will have the opportunity to spend an afternoon on the course with PGA HOPE instructors and local golf professionals, receive golf instruction and tips, and connect with fellow Veterans who share an interest in the game.

The clinic is free for Veterans, but space is limited.

The Hometown Hero Banner Program is returning for 2026!

Beginning September 1, the City of Trenton will once again accept applications for the Hometown Hero Banner Program. The program honors current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces with custom, double-sided banners displayed throughout the City featuring the honoree’s photo, name, and branch of service.

Applications open September 1, and space is limited.

This Friday, we recognize Purple Heart Day and honor the extraordinary sacrifices of every Purple Heart recipient past, present, and future.

For Governmental Veteran Service Officers, a Purple Heart represents a major indicator during claim development. When service treatment records are incomplete, a veteran's award history can help establish how, when, and under what circumstances an injury may have occurred. In the case of the Purple Heart, the award confirms that the veteran was wounded or killed by enemy action, making it an invaluable piece of evidence when connecting veterans and their families to earned benefits.

This is another way experienced GVSOs look beyond medical records alone. By piecing together the full story, we can ensure veterans receive the recognition and benefits that their service deserves.

Today, we pause to remember those whose sacrifice is forever reflected by the Purple Heart. Thank you for your courage in defense of our nation.

🦷 Did You Know? BCVSC Offers a Dental Program for Eligible Veterans.

Good oral health is an important part of your overall well-being, and the Butler County Veterans Service Commission is proud to help eligible veterans access quality dental care through our Dental Program.

Since launching our partnership with Primary Health Solutions, hundreds of Butler County veterans have received dental services ranging from routine preventive care to comprehensive treatment plans.

The program may include services such as:

🦷 X-rays
🦷 Cleanings
🦷 Fluoride treatments (when recommended)
🦷 Comprehensive dental treatment for qualifying veterans

Eligibility requirements apply, and our staff is happy to walk you through the process and determine if you qualify.

Starting July 31, 2026, VA is making it easier for Veterans whose records were damaged or destroyed in the 1973 National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) fire.

Instead of multiple separate requests, VA will now send one comprehensive packet with two forms at the start of the claims process. Our accredited Service Officers can assist you in completing the
NA Form 13055 and NA Form 13075.

Instead of multiple separate requests, VA will now send one comprehensive packet with two forms at the start of the claims process:

When records are confirmed or reasonably presumed destroyed in the fire, claims processors may apply a sympathetic evidentiary standard. Meaning fewer duplicate requests and faster, more predictable timelines for Veterans.
