“Honestly, if I wasn’t here, I’d probably be a super senior failing and going nowhere in life… that’s genuinely how I’d put it. Without this program, I wouldn’t be where I am right now.”

At Hamilton High School, the CORE program is not just about completing coursework — it’s about people.

It’s about teachers who sit side-by-side with students.
It’s about relationships built on trust, consistency, and care.
It’s about making sure every student knows someone is in their corner.

For seniors Noah and Miley, that support has made all the difference.

CORE is designed to help students recover credits, stay focused, and receive the individualized support they need to earn their diploma. It is more than just a program — it is a second chance, a support system, and for many students, a turning point.

Noah has also been able to continue building toward his future through Hamilton’s partnership opportunities, attending the Careerline Tech Center's Construction program this year while staying on track academically.

Stories like Noah’s and Miley’s show the powerful impact of meeting students where they are, believing in them, and giving them the tools to succeed. 🖤💛

Strong Weekend for the Hamilton Cyberhawks! 🤖

The Hamilton High School Cyberhawks Robotics Team (Team 6114) had an impressive showing this weekend, competing in a FIRST Robotics Competition event and finishing 3rd overall as part of the 8th alliance — proving to be a true upset machine throughout the playoffs. 💪

In the FIRST Robotics Competition, teams from around the state design, build, and program robots to compete in fast-paced engineering challenges that test teamwork, strategy, and technical skills. It’s one of the most exciting ways students explore careers in engineering, programming, and advanced manufacturing.

This weekend’s performance also keeps the door open for a possible qualification to the state championship, depending on how the team performs at the Grand Valley State University event next week!

Great work, Cyberhawks — we’ll be cheering you on next week! 🖤💛

Thank you to Lynnette Eding and Sarah Risedorph for these photos! 📸

Students from Ms. Caylie Riess’s class recently had the opportunity to visit the Grand Rapids Art Museum for a day filled with creativity and inspiration.

Thanks to a grant-funded opportunity, students were able to explore the museum’s galleries, experience a wide variety of artwork, and see firsthand how art can tell stories, spark ideas, and connect people.

Field trips like this give students the chance to step outside the classroom and engage with art in a meaningful, memorable way.

Thank you to Ms. Riess for creating this opportunity for our students! 🎨👏

History Came to Life for Hamilton 8th Graders this week!

Students in Mr. Houghton’s class stepped back in time today as part of their Civil War unit, experiencing what a typical day in the life of a Civil War soldier might have looked like.

Class began outdoors as students assembled to the sound of a traditional bugle call—just as soldiers once did in camp. After learning about the daily routines and hardships faced by soldiers, students worked together to prepare hardtack, a simple flour-and-water ration that was commonly eaten during the war.

Cooked over a small outdoor stove, students even tried softening the rock-hard crackers with water before tasting them—just like soldiers once did.

To wrap up the experience, students reflected by writing letters from the perspective of a Civil War soldier, describing life in camp and connecting their hands-on experience to the realities of history.

Experiencing this history lesson firsthand is something these students won’t forget.

Great job bringing history to life, Mr. Houghton! 👏🖤💛

Hamilton High School junior Legacy Amin is turning ideas into reality through the Engineering Design & Machine Technology program at the Careerline Tech Center — and he’s doing it with precision. ⚙️🔧

In the program, Legacy is learning how to design parts using coding and bring them to life using advanced manufacturing equipment like CNC mills and lathes.

From computer-based design to machining physical parts out of metal, Legacy is gaining hands-on experience in skills that are in high demand in today’s workforce.

Keep up the great work, Legacy! 👏
