Greystone Class Spotlight!
Algebra II
Grades 9th-12th

Factoring Polynomials, Quadratic Formula, Graphing Conic Sections, and more. Algebra 2 is a more rigorous course that builds on pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. Besides review and expansion of topics taught in Algebra 1, the course covers advanced factoring, imaginary and complex numbers, conjugate numbers, the binomial theorem, the quadratic formula, motion problems, and other kinds of application problems. Graphing includes extensive practice with conic sections and solving systems of equations visually and algebraically. Vectors are also introduced.

What makes Math-U-See distinctive? Math skills and concepts are presented in a logical sequence. Lessons focus on demonstrating how and when to apply concepts in real-world scenarios, which give students a deeper understanding.

Math-U-See uses a mastery approach, allowing students to build a strong foundation of fundamental concepts and skills before moving on. Concepts build on one another and are applied and reviewed to broaden the student’s mathematical understanding.
Math-U-See instruction includes clear guidance for introducing, reviewing, practicing, and mastering concepts. Each lesson incorporates multiple tools such as videos, manipulatives, lesson practice, worksheets, systematic review pages, and supplemental resources. The curriculum is designed to appeal to multiple learning styles and adapt to a variety of learning environments so that students can use the tools that suit their learning styles.

This class will meet on Tuesdays, 1:15p-2:45p, at our Hamilton location and begins on Tuesday, September 9th, 2025.

New year, new classes!
American Civics: The U.S. Constitution begins Tuesday, January 21th as our spring semester elective in our Newtown location, meeting Tuesday afternoons for 15 weeks.
Math Tutoring continues on Tuesday mornings in Newtown and is open for spring semester enrollees.

Greystone Class Spotlight!
Math Tutoring: Foundational Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry
Grades 6th+

This is a small group tutoring opportunity. Students can be studying any field or level of mathematics and will progress at their own pace with help and guidance from the tutor. Students are held accountable through weekly progress check-ups and tracking and recording of their ongoing assessments. The structure of this course works best when students come to class prepared with questions or material from their lessons that they want or need to understand better or receive further explanation from Mr. Capone. Mr. Capone primarily encourages the use of Math-U-See curriculum for its weekly lesson structure, which aligns well with the weekly nature of this class but is open to other curricula on a case-by-case basis if it works especially well for a particular student and family. Honors versions of Math-U-See are available for those students who are capable and interested.
This class meets on Tuesday mornings at our Newtown location from 9:00am-10:30am.

Greystone Class Spotlight!
Humane Letters Literature and Composition
Grades 6+

The Humane Letters class focuses on composition, literature, and poetry (fall semester), and includes an element of grammar review/reinforcement. Composition is taught using the components of classical rhetoric through The Lost Tools of Writing curriculum and other sources. Literature is central to the Humane Letters class. Students will read in community, write about, and discuss selections from classic literature, possibly incorporating an ancient epic (in full or in part), a classic fairy tale, short stories, novels, one or two plays, and poetry (full book/reading list TBD as we get closer to the school year and solidified one semester at a time).

This class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays in our Hamilton, NJ location from 10:00a-12:00pm and on Thursdays in our Newtown, PA location from 9:00a-12:00pm.

History of the World Wars Through Literature
Grades 6+

"Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it"

The events of the first half of the 20th century had an irreversible impact on, and in some cases bear an eerily-similar resemblance to, the world we know today. In successive generations, two wars engulfed the major powers around the globe, causing more death, destruction, and social upheaval than the world had known up until that time. Some have argued that World War I and World War II were simply one thirty-year war with a twenty-year armistice in-between.

Using the literature, speeches, and public writings of men and women from Woodrow Wilson and Arthur Conan Doyle to T.S. Eliot and Albert Einstein, we will learn the stories behind the wars and the years between. In addition to brief weekly lectures, the class will read and discuss a wide range of primary sources, as well as several non-fiction compilations, to unearth the lesser-known villains, heroes, and events of the Great War, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, and the Second World War.

This class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays in our Hamilton location from 12:45-1:45pm and on Thursdays in Newtown location from 12:45-2:15pm.

Physical Science
Grades 6th+
Combining mastery-learning and a unique textbook philosophy, this physical science course helps students break the Cram-Pass-Forget cycle so that they truly learn and retain course material. Topics include types of matter, energy, order and design in creation, forces and fields, measurement, motion, sound and light, electricity and magnetism, and the nature of scientific knowledge.
Good science instruction should draw students upward into the adult world of scientific inquiry. We start with a proven mastery-learning paradigm: through a carefully crafted program, students continually learn and build on their learning, reencountering key concepts and practicing scientific skills so that they become settled in the student’s mind.
Mastery learning requires ongoing review even as new material is presented. It also takes culling the material down to a manageable amount that an average student can actually master in the course of a year. Better, more enduring learning takes place when the student goes deeper with a moderate amount of material rather than trying to cover too many topics too rapidly or shallowly.
As integration is the inclusion of material across subjects relevant to the topic in the text—the history behind the science, grade-level mathematics, written and verbal English language skills and measurement skills—Novare Physical Science even includes some discussion of epistemology (what kind of knowledge does science give us and how is that different from biblical revelation).
References from the humanities are used where appropriate to add greater dimension, to humanize and decompartmentalize science, references to art, music, architecture, technology, and literature.
Finally, this book is written with a Kingdom Perspective. This text devotes chapters 4 and 7 to discussion about the meaning of the presence of order in the universe, and how this points to a Creator behind it. Furthermore, it discusses the nature of truth, theories, facts, hypotheses, and the nature of scientific knowledge. A Christian worldview and love for Christ comes through in the narration as he leads the reader to wonder and care for God’s great world. This makes for a more elegant and vibrant Christian encounter with science than sprinkling Bible verses and devotional insets around.
The experiments for Novare Physical Science call for the use of a series of customer made "widgets" that can be constructed of wood and metal available at any hardware store. This course works well for middle-school students getting their first exposure to the broad world of Physics or for high school students who want to begin to explore the amazing concepts of Physics that exist all around them without digging into the mathematical-heavy aspects of full-fledged Physics yet.

Greystone Class Spotlight!
Zoology and Ecosystems
Grades 3rd through 6th

We will spend the year learning about animals and their ecosystems and habitats from a Biblical worldview. We will learn about the scientists that have made important discoveries in these fields, as well as the geography of animals and ecosystems being taught.

Lessons will include short videos, reading, researching, writing, and demonstrations. By the end of the year, students will have compiled a comprehensive journal with all they’ve learned about God’s creation. Journal activities will be tailored to the students’ ages/abilities.

There is no textbook for this class, but teacher references include texts produced by The Good and the Beautiful, Apologia Science’s Exploring Creation series, and MasterBooks.

In Newtown the class will meet on Tuesdays, 10:15a-12:00p
In Hamilton the class will meet on Mondays, 12:45a-2:30p.

Greystone Class Spotlight!
Junior Humane Letters Literature and Composition
Grades 3rd through 6th

In this course, students will discover that adventure doesn’t live only on the pages of fiction, but also in journals, essays, and poetry. We will read a variety of animal or nature-themed literature* during the course of the year, as well as one of the most adventurous books in the Bible - the Acts of the Apostles. Students will learn about literary devices and participate in thoughtful conversations designed to enhance critical thinking. They will learn about the authors who wrote them, and any relevant historical or cultural context.

The bulk of the class time will be spent learning and implementing a variety of writing forms: personal narratives, instructions, expository and persuasive essays, short fiction, poetry, and a short play (if time allows). Students will learn how to brainstorm, select a subject, research details, outline ideas, implement the proper mechanics of writing (including paragraph and sentence structure), and edit.

On the "Classes" tab, you will find additions under both the Hamilton and Newtown sections for two classes that will be offered for 3rd through 6th grade students.
