Mindset Coach 🧠

When I was 14 years old I got obsessed with the idea of backpacking around the world.

Not because I came from a family of travelers, but because I realized that my personality shifted depending on where I was and who I was surrounded by.

Emotional contagion is REAL.

If you walk in a room and feel negative vibes, and 10 minutes later you’re in a sour mood, that’s emotional contagion.

And if you walk in a room where everyone is laughing and joyous, and 10 minutes later you’re in a great mood, that’s emotional contagion too.

Our environment GREATLY impacts how we show up.

It affects our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

Changing your environment—exploring somewhere new or shaking up your current routine—is one of the best and quickest ways to ensure a positive change in your life. ā˜€ļø

When we take steps to better ourselves, we inspire others to be better too. Imagine if every day for the next 365 days, you woke up with one goal: to do a little bit better than you did the day before. In one year from now, you could be completely transformed and you could help the people around you to transform too.

Every time I catch myself losing motivation it’s because of one of these three things: I’m not in control of my time, I’m focused on something that doesn’t energize me, or I’m in need of an accountability partner. Check in with yourself. These things can help you regain the motivation you lost. & you can hear my full episode on restoring your motivation on the podcast šŸŽ¤ enjoy!

Getting defensive is one of the worst things you can do in a confrontational conversation. It implies you have low self-esteem and insecurities.

Practice using your breath. Exhale slowly. Ask questions. And seek to learn something new in the conversation. Try these tips next time you’re in a confrontational conversation with someone and watch how much it helps.

24: Wakefulness, Self-Healing, and Knowing Your Worth with Katherine Jansen-Byrkit 05/30/2023

At sixteen, suicidal and weighing almost 200 lbs., Katherine Jansen-Byrkit was far from feeling or living expansively. The journey of waking up for her began with a su***de attempt and the long, hard passage between despair and hope. After healing from the inside out, Katherine is now a Licensed Professional Counselor and has spent 15 years in the field offering holistic psychotherapy, coaching, chiropractic services, and more.

I had the honor of sitting down with Katherine as she opened up about her past and talked about how she came to publish her first book, River to Ocean: Living in the Flow of Wakefulness. This river guide reflects the human voyage of finding our way to an awakened self. As with a river traversing steep mountains and winding valleys, our inner and outer worlds can be encumbered by old beliefs, an anxious mind, preoccupation with death, or compromised relationships to others. In her work, Katherine tells raw experiences and offers real insight as she explores nine aspects of wakefulness and encourages readers to wake up through their human life.

In this episode, we talk about:

-Wakefulness
-Healing from trauma
-Understanding rage / strong emotions
-Repairing relationships and rebuilding trust (as parents)
-Introversion vs. social anxiety
-Feeling worthy enough

As always, if you loved the episode, please share it on social and send it to friends! Thanks for helping the show grow šŸ™‚

Enjoy!
