Big Hornets Inspiring Little Hornets!

Our Grade 5 students (now rising sixth graders!) created their own versions of favorite storybook classics and shared them with our Early Childhood students through fun, interactive performances. It was a wonderful way to celebrate creativity, storytelling, and the special connections between our oldest and youngest Lower School students.

A perfect end-of-year tradition that brought our school community together through the joy of reading and imagination.

Senior May Project Spotlight

Senior Julia Scalmani explored the world of law and public service during her Senior May Project through an internship at the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut in New Haven.

Working alongside Deputy Clerk Monica Watson Cucchiarelli and members of the clerk’s office, Julia gained firsthand insight into the judicial process by observing court proceedings, speaking with judges, assisting with daily office tasks, and helping organize a public outreach event celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary.

Through this experience, Julia discovered the importance of collaboration within the court system and gained a new perspective on the professionalism, accessibility, and teamwork behind the scenes.

Senior May Project Spotlight
Senior Leon Jiang combined mathematics, coding, and music to create an interactive rhythm game using Desmos, the online graphing calculator.

Inspired by games like "Piano Tiles," Leon used Python to sequence music into frequencies and then built the game's visuals, equations, and functionality entirely within Desmos. The project challenged Leon to think creatively about how mathematical tools can be used in unexpected ways.

One of Leon's biggest takeaways? While Desmos is best known as a graphing calculator, it can also serve as a surprisingly powerful coding platform.

Three words to describe the experience: math-based music.
