Saint Rita School - Hamden, CT "...the place to be where the love of Christ is lived and shared." St. Rita School is a Catholic elementary school located in Hamden, Connecticut.

We educate children in grades Pre-K through Grade 8. Rita School is a community of children, parents, teachers and religious of the Church. The primary goal of the school is to nurture Catholic Christian moral principals by providing a warm, caring and positive atmosphere. Furthermore, our goal is to teach the young to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically, and to see that each child's gifts and talents are recognized and encouraged.

📰 Summary from the New Haven Journal-Courier, Monday, June 18, 1956:

"Part of the crowd of over 1,000 persons who attended dedication ceremonies and came to inspect St. Rita's Parochial School yesterday afternoon is shown (left) in front of the new $600,000 building recently completed. A solemn mass of thanksgiving was held earlier celebrating the Silver Jubilee of St. Rita's Parish...the Most Reverend Matthew F. Brady, bishop of Manchester, (left insert) delivered the principal address at the dedication ceremonies in the 450-seat school auditorium. At the right (insert) is the Rev. William J. Daly, pastor of St. Rita Church, as he welcomed parishioners and visitors to the dedication.

While the parishioners look on, (right), the color guard of John Barry Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, leads the procession of participating priests into St. Rita's Parochial School for dedication ceremonies. The 16-class-room structure will open next September with two first grades, two second grades, and one third and fourth grade."

Our Outside Classroom soared during Mrs. Perrotti's and Mrs. Fortuna's 4th-grade Science classes, where they tested their handmade gliders! Using a measuring tape, students logged their data and determined how far the gliders travelled through the air. A perfect project combining physics, air currents, and fun.

We remembered the tragic day of September 11, with a special tribute to the brave first responders who never came home. Who paid the ultimate sacrifice. We honored them with thoughtful posters, prayers, and gratitude. We also welcomed two very special guests from the Hamden Police Dept., Officer Cugini and his K9 partner, Jet. Ms. Gill's and Mrs. DiRenzo's third grade students made Jet a personalized heroes cape, and organized this wonderful assembly. Jet was very excited to meet our students and wear his gift. Thank you Officer Cugini and Jet for always keeping our community safe and for your bravery.

On this quarter-century milestone of remembrance, we bow our heads in solemn tribute to the nearly 3,000 souls lost on September 11, 2001.

Lord, grant comfort to the families who still bear the weight of sudden loss, and bring Your healing solace to their hearts.

In a fractured world, knit our hearts back to the unity, resilience, and compassion we found in each other in the darkest hours. Let justice prevail over revenge, light over darkness, and love over hatred.

May the memories of all those we lost forever be a blessing, and may Your peace guide our nation forward.
