The sidewalk that runs down the east side of the building from the front to the PreK parking lot will be inaccessible for a while. If your student walks or rides their bike that way to get to Chestnut, they will need to use 6th street to get there instead.

🚨🚨 UPDATED PARKING LOT FLOW INFO 🚨🚨

Based on a few questions we had, we updated our map and added a little more detail to show how traffic will flow out of the HJSHS parking lot and into the HIS loop. The 2nd picture will give you a more close up look at that area.
This process will take some getting used to but we will have people out to help you as you navigate these new areas. We appreciate your patience and understanding!

🚨🚨DROP OFF AND PICK UP INFORMATION🚨🚨

Parents,
Please look over the drop off and pick up information attached to this post prior to the first day of school and familiarize yourself with the procedures. Some points to look out for:
- please note entry and exit only points and their times
- the exit of our drop off/pick up loop will be RIGHT TURN ONLY during both drop off and pick up times
- we are asking that students only enter and exit cars in the line from the sidewalk by the school in the line
- parents and students should use the crosswalks to move across the parking lot
- The front bus lane is still off limits to cars between 7:15-7:45 and 3:15-3:45
- If you have a high school driver, please help them understand the importance of being aware of their surroundings as they move throughout the parking lots

HIS staff will be out to help with these new procedures. Please be kind and considerate of them as they do their job to ensure the efficiency of this process as well as the safety of everyone. This will be a learning process for everyone and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure a smooth and safe drop off and pick up process for everyone. Updates and reminders for 8/10 and 8/11 Orientation/Conferences:
- The only entrance open on 8/10 and 8/11 will be the far east doors on the north (main) side of the building. Please do not try to go in any other doors
- The west parking lot is open for parking but please be careful as there is still construction equipment and materials in that area

Mark your calendars for student orientation on Monday, August 10th from 12pm-8pm and Tuesday, August 11th from 7:45am-3:45pm. Teachers will be doing presentations at the times listed below and in between those times you can visit with all of the teachers on their team. Our rotations teachers, SPED staff, and interventionists will also be available.
**PreK teachers will be sending a link to sign up for conferences with them on these days**

🚨🚨 Please be aware that our main entrance will not be open on these days! Please use the far East doors on the North side of our building to enter 🚨🚨

Thank you for your patience as we worked through some snags with Skyward. You should now be able to see who your child’s homeroom teacher is for this year. Remember, your student will see all of their grade level teachers throughout the day so their homeroom is really their landing place for the beginning of the day.
