Central Linn Community,
On Monday, April 13th, the School Board unanimously approved Dr. Rob Hess as the permanent Superintendent. The Board’s vision is to build a world-class public education system that prepares every student for any future they choose, whether that’s college, career, or the skilled trades, and they believe Dr. Hess is the right leader to move that work forward.
As part of that vision, you may have heard about some upcoming schedule changes at the Jr/Sr High School for next year. These changes are designed to expand opportunities for students, not limit them.
Students will now have access to:
More advanced coursework and college-level opportunities
Expanded skilled trades and career pathway classes
Greater choice in electives aligned to student interests
The ability to earn up to 32 credits in four years (up from 30)
This means students will have more flexibility to explore their interests, build real-world skills, and graduate better prepared for whatever path they choose.
We also want families to know that this is not a finalized, one-size-fits-all schedule. Over the next several weeks, students and parents will have multiple opportunities to review, ask questions, and provide input. Our goal is to ensure that every student has a schedule that works for them before summer break.
In the past, schedules were often finalized near the start of the school year, leaving little room for adjustments. By starting this process earlier, we are creating time for collaboration, feedback, and thoughtful planning.
We understand that change can bring questions, and we welcome that. If you have questions about your child’s schedule, please reach out to the District Office at 541-762-6149. We are here to help and will make sure you connect with the right staff member.
We are excited about the direction Central Linn is heading and the expanded opportunities this will create for our students.
GO COBRAS!!
