Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

As a member of the school board, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible educators who make a difference in our community every single day. Your dedication, patience, and passion do far more than teach lessons. You inspire curiosity, build confidence, and shape the future.

We see the long hours, the creative lessons, and the care you pour into your classrooms. We see the impact you have on students’ lives in ways that last far beyond the school year. Our schools are stronger because of you.

Thank you for showing up, for lifting students up, and for never giving up on them. You are truly appreciated. It’s not just this week, but all year long!

Accomack County Public Schools to Operate on a Virtual Day (Code 1) Monday

Accomack County, VA — Accomack County Public Schools (ACPS) will operate on a Virtual Day (Code 1) on Monday, January 26th, 2026, in accordance with the request issued by Governor Abigail Spanberger and in the interest of student, staff, and community safety.

Governor Spanberger issued the following guidance to all Virginians in anticipation of hazardous conditions: “I am asking all Virginians to stay off the roads as of Saturday night, all day Sunday through Monday morning.” In alignment with this directive, ACPS is taking proactive steps to reduce travel and ensure continuity of instruction while prioritizing safety.

On Monday, all students will engage in virtual learning, and all staff will work remotely. This remains a full instructional and workday, and families are encouraged to ensure that students have access to required materials and technology to participate fully in their virtual classes. Teachers and schools will communicate specific expectations and schedules directly with families, and further details regarding the virtual day will also be posted on social media and the division website, along with “how-to” videos.

ACPS appreciates the continued partnership and flexibility of our families and staff as we respond to evolving weather and safety conditions. Additional updates will be shared as needed through official ACPS communication channels.

For questions or support related to virtual learning, families are encouraged to contact their child’s school directly.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority. We are grateful for the continued cooperation of our community as we work together to protect one another.

Most sincerely,
Dr. Gennifer Miller
Superintendent - Accomack County Public Schools
