A little Mahj Camp update

Sometimes, life has other plans.

Due to an unexpected medical issue, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel Mahj Camp: Fall Round Up this October.

If you know us, you know how much heart, thought, and planning goes into every Mahj Camp. And right now, we need to give ourselves a little time to heal, regroup, and take care of what matters most.

We are incredibly disappointed—we were SO excited to toss tiles with you in Round Top again—but this isn’t goodbye. Not even close.

We’re going to use this time to rest, dream a little bigger, and start planning an even better Mahj Camp experience for you.

Mahj Camp WILL be back.
And when it is… you know we’re going to make it GOOD.

Thank you for cheering us on, supporting The Mahj Collective, and always being ready to pull up a chair at our table.

POV: You thought mahjong was going to be an inexpensive little hobby…

Then came…

At this point, my bank account knows exactly when a new mahjong collection drops.

Pass with Purpose

One of the biggest mistakes players make during the Charleston is passing tiles just because they don’t like them.

Instead, pass with purpose.

Ask yourself these three questions before every pass:

🀄 Does this tile help my hand?
If the answer is no, it’s a great candidate to pass.

🀄 Am I protecting the tiles that matter most?
Keep your pairs, your strongest groups, and the tiles that support your current direction.

🀄 Will this pass make my hand more focused?
Every tile you pass should bring you one step closer to a winning hand.

Remember, the Charleston isn’t just about receiving better tiles—it’s about making intentional decisions. The more purpose behind your passes, the more consistent your game becomes.

We watched strangers become friends, shared countless laughs around the mahjong table, stayed up way too late tossing tiles, and realized something: the camp spirit is just too good to leave behind.

We truly can’t say enough about what an incredible weekend this was.

This weekend, the best group of mahjong addicts descended upon Round Top, and for three days they simply enjoyed themselves. They laughed until their cheeks hurt, tossed tiles from sunrise to late into the night, made new friendships, shared stories, relaxed, and embraced every moment of Camp Mahj.

Watching complete strangers become tablemates… and then leave as friends… is exactly why we do this.

To every camper who trusted us with your weekend—thank you. Your excitement, kindness, laughter, and love for this crazy game made Camp Mahj: Round Top Edition more magical than we ever imagined.

And if you’ve been watching from afar thinking, “I want to be there next time…” this is your sign.

Fall Camp Mahj: Round Up Edition is just around the corner, and we’d love to save you a seat at the table. Come experience a weekend filled with mahjong, laughter, great food, new friendships, and a whole lot of unforgettable memories.

What. A. Day.

We tossed tiles. We practiced on our solo mahj boards. We made camp hats. We explored Round Top. We laughed until our cheeks hurt. And we battled it out in our PajamaJong Tournament.

Now the campfire is winding down, the embers are glowing, and it’s time to get some sleep.

Tomorrow, we’ll wake up, pack up, and head home.

Pajama-Jong is officially in session!

The pajamas are on, the tiles are shuffled, the snacks are flowing, and the competition is about to get serious.

There’s just something magical about tossing tiles with your mahj besties in your pajamas. Laughter, strategy, late-night mahjongs, and memories we’ll be talking about long after camp is over.

And the real question of the night… who will win the OMM tile set??

May the best player win… but really, we’re all winners when the night ends like this.
