Our 4 year old teacher, Ms. Jordan loves revolving lesson plans around a good children’s book…here’s what she did & what it taught 👇🏼
The Lesson Plans:
Fine Motor: “Make Lemonade” using cut up yellow sponges & lemon squeezers, students will squeeze “lemonade” (water) out of the sponges to fill the cup. What it teaches: (Fine motor-squeezing the lemon juicers, self control, following directions)
Science: Lemon Boats, fill sensory bin with water, hallow out lemons, use the lemon hallows as boats, use little bears to float in them.
What it teaches: (math, problem & solution, sharing, working together, sensory)
Art: Lemon Collage, using lemons as a paint stamp, students will create collaborative art by stamping with lemons.
What it teaches: (Working together, art, self control, following directions - stamp the lemon)
Math: Lemon Stacking, use yellow pool noodle slices, & shaving cream to see how high students can stack the “lemons”.
What it teaches: (Fine motor development, problem solving, counting, patience, sensory)
Steam: Fizzy Lemons, water color lemon cardstock template, then drip lemon juice onto artwork to see how it reacts. {Safety goggles}
What it teaches: (fine motor-squeezing lemon- cause & effect, art, science, following directions, self control)
Lesson: Discuss inclusion, to go along with the book, make Kindness Lemonade, and add the “ingredients” (ways to be kind)
