Little Hands, BIG Creativity!

Our little learners are continuing their "Containers" study through The Creative Curriculum®! Today, we explored beautiful fall colors and used lids to create fun, one-of-a-kind prints!

Through this hands-on activity, children practiced fine motor skills, explored colors, and discovered how everyday objects can inspire creativity!

Little Hands, BIG Creations!

Our preschoolers put on their thinking caps and got busy making their own molding dough! Following our Creative Curriculum®, the children measured ingredients, followed a recipe, and worked together to bring their creations to life.

While having fun, they practiced early math skills, strengthened their fine motor muscles, developed listening skills, and explored their creativity!

**STAFF SPOTLIGHT: ALLISON CASTILLO**

We are so excited to shine the spotlight on **Allison Castillo, our wonderful Assistant Director!

Allison earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Rutgers University and brings several years of experience in early childhood education. Her experience working with children, families, and educators makes her a wonderful addition to our Wee Kids leadership team.

What makes Allison truly special is her genuine passion for helping children grow, learn, and build confidence while supporting the teachers who make those learning experiences possible each day. She believes in creating an environment where every child feels safe, valued, encouraged, and supported.

Since joining our team, Allison has brought kindness, dedication, leadership, and a willingness to jump in wherever she is needed. Whether she’s supporting a teacher, helping a child, connecting with a family, or keeping the day running smoothly, she does it with care and a smile.

We are incredibly happy and grateful to have Allison as part of the Wee Kids family! Her commitment to our children, families, and teachers makes a difference every day.

MORNING CREATIVE CURRICULUM

Our Preschoolers children became interviewers!

For our Question of the Day, the children created questions they wanted to ask Allison Castillo, our Assistant Director.

During large group, they learned more about what Allison does each day, how she helps children and teachers, and the tools and technology she uses to support our school.

This fun conversation encouraged language and literacy, communication, social-emotional development, writing, critical thinking, and confidence all while helping our children learn more about the people who make Wee Kids special!

We’re in Week 2 of our Containers unit, and today we focused on opening containers!

Each child chose a container and had to figure out how to open it. What they didn’t know was that a special surprise was waiting inside!

While having fun, our children were practicing fine-motor skills, problem-solving, hand-eye coordination, persistence, and independence as they twisted, pulled, pushed, and figured out what worked!

Lots of learning, lots of smiles, and a little surprise at the end!

Our little learners had a busy afternoon filled with learning, movement, and hands-on fun!

During our roundup, we practiced community rules and turn-taking while reviewing what we’ve been learning about comparing quantities. Then, in small groups, the children built “More or Fewer Towers” using interlocking cubes!

The children rolled a special MORE & LESS die and built towers to match the word they rolled. Along the way, they practiced using important math vocabulary like more, fewer, and equal while explaining their thinking.

We also took our learning outdoors and practiced punting by dropping and gently kicking soft playground balls!

From social-emotional development and language to math, movement, and problem-solving, our children were learning in so many ways all while having a great time!

That’s the beauty of Creative Curriculum and learning through play!

Infant Activity: Ziploc Bag
Letter Painting!

Our infants will be participating in a fun and sensory-friendly painting activity! We will use tape to create each child's letter on a piece of paper, then place the paper inside a Ziploc bag with paint. The infants will be encouraged to use their hands to smash, push, and move the paint around the bag, allowing them to explore colors and textures without getting messy. Once the paint dries, we will carefully remove the paper from the bag and peel away the tape to reveal their letters!
This activity encourages sensory exploration, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and curiosity while creating a special piece of artwork for the children to take home.
