🌟 Tonight, Every Step Counted at Bethune Academy! 🌟

What an incredible Open House! Our campus was filled with excitement as families explored classrooms, connected with teachers, participated in science labs and long-term investigations, visited the guitar lab, discovered new learning opportunities, and learned more about our after-school clubs and resources designed to support student success.

A special thank-you to Jenkins for serving as an ambassador and assisting families with after-school club sign-ups and escorting families across campus. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated faculty and staff for their intentional planning, preparation, and commitment to creating a welcoming and engaging experience for our families. Your hard work made tonight truly special!

Thank you to every parent, guardian, student, and community member who joined us. Your presence and partnership strengthen our school community and remind us that we are all working toward one shared mission—helping every Bethune Cadet thrive!

🌪️ Learning in Action During WIN Enrichment!

Our students are participating in a DBQ investigation exploring “Why Are Hurricanes So Dangerous?” They are annotating informational texts, analyzing photographs and other evidence, and comparing hurricanes and tornadoes.

Students are also applying their learning by preparing their own emergency kits and identifying the essential items families need during severe weather. This engaging experience strengthens critical thinking, evidence-based writing, and real-world problem-solving skills.

🎉 All students who attend Open House will receive a FREE uniform pass for Monday!

Also, on Friday, September 18, students may come to school out of uniform for $2.00.

🎉 Students Celebrating their “A”🎉

On Friday, we celebrated with our students whose hard work helped Bethune Academy earn an outstanding school grade of an A!

Our students enjoyed a wonderful day with their friends and teachers—laughing, playing, and celebrating this incredible achievement together. Their determination, growth, and commitment to excellence made this moment possible.

We are also incredibly grateful for our amazing parent volunteers and everyone who supported this special celebration. Your time, assistance, and continued partnership helped make the day memorable for our students.

Important Device Information for Families

Beginning Monday, August 24, all students in grades 2–5 will take their assigned devices home for instructional use.

Students are responsible for all parts of their device, including the iPad, case, and charger. Please help us by encouraging your child to demonstrate Responsibility, one of our Cambridge attributes, by caring for the device, charging it each evening, and returning it to school each day.

If you do not want your child to take a device home, please complete and return the opt-out form. If an opt-out form is not returned, your child will bring the device home.

Optional device insurance is available for $29.00. We strongly encourage families to review the insurance information and consider purchasing coverage to protect against accidental damage.

Cadets are showing off their design and engineering skills in our new STEM class. Students were challenged to build the tallest tower possible using only 15 cups or 10 index cards during our first week of school. Now, they are using the Design and Engineering Process to create water bottle rockets, wind-powered cars, and other inventions.

ANOTHER HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT FOR BETHUNE ACADEMY! 🌟

Today, August 21, 2026, we are proud to announce that Bethune Academy has officially been named a Magnet Schools of America Nationally Certified–Demonstration Magnet School! This prestigious certification is valid through August 2030.

This recognition means Bethune Academy has met rigorous national Standards of Excellence in innovative instruction, academic achievement, equity, diversity, and community engagement. As a Demonstration Magnet School, Bethune has also been identified as an exemplary program whose practices can serve as a model for schools across the nation.

This honor reflects the transformation happening at Bethune—strengthened instruction, innovative Cambridge and STEM opportunities, dedicated teachers and staff, growing students, and committed families and community partners.

An “A” school after 12 years—and now a Nationally Certified–Demonstration Magnet School! Our journey has been intentional, transformational, and built one step at a time.
