Happy belated birthday Ms. Kendra! In case you didn't know, Ms. Kendra is our amazing 4th-5th grade teacher. An integral part of the Roots 'ohana for 5 years, students love Ms. Kendra because she is kind, creative, and smart! Parents love Ms. Kendra because she loves each one of her students as if they were her own, helping them to learn new things and grow into the best they can be.
There are just a couple spots left in Ms. Kendra's 4th-5th grade class for the Fall. Email [email protected] or call (808) 250-7988 if you would like more information!

On one of our last field trips of the year, the Liko Class visited The Maui Farm, where they learned hands-on ways to protect plants from invasive insects using non-toxic methods. They also explored the importance of healthy soil by sifting through compost to help relocate works into prepared worm bins. To top off the experience, each student planted and took home their own kukui plant.
Mahalo to for a wonderful experience!

It's happening -- we are getting a new roof! A big mahalo to our very generous anonymous donor for making this possible! We had to do this project in the summertime, so as not to interrupt students, teachers and busy school days. Mark your calendars -- summer camp will be back next year!

A few weeks ago, Lowenthal & Lowenthal were at school working on persuasive speeches with our Kamahele class. The topic? New school colors and mascot! All our persuasive speakers did such a great job, and we are excited to announce the winner, as voted on by our Roots School community -- the He'e! And our new school colors are turquoise and tan! Great job everyone, we are so excited to be the He'e!

We had an amazing Classrooms Without Walls field trip yesterday at Haleakala! We learned how to identify 'i'iwi and 'apapane birds and collected data about how many we saw. We also went on a wild food hike with Sunny Savage and shared a treat made from foraged food!
