Last week, Mt. Aetna School celebrated the end of the school year with wonderful spring concerts from both the elementary and middle school students. From joyful singing to beautiful band and bells performances, it was a special evening filled with music, worship, and celebration.

We’re especially thankful for the dedication of our music teachers who have invested so much in these students over the years. It was extra meaningful to celebrate alongside the graduating 8th graders — including some whose parents have faithfully served as their music teachers throughout their time at Mt. Aetna.

Congratulations to all of the students on a job well done, and God’s blessings to the Class of 2026 as they prepare for their next chapter!

Day 5 of the 8th Grade History Study Tour of the Boston area.

We took a few hours this morning to walk the famous Cliff Walk at Newport, RI. The shore is lined with massive "Cottages" built during the Golden age at the turn of the last century.

We spent the afternoon at Mystic Seaport, learning of ship building, whaling, and other nautical history.

Day 4 of the 8th Grade History Study Tour of the Boston area.

We spent the morning at Lowell National Historic Park learning about the industrial revolution, the cotton industry, and the manufacturing of fabric. Each student, and most of the chaperones had a chance to spend about half-an-hour, working a hand loom.

In the afternoon we made two rushed visits to the USS Constitution and the Battle of Bunker Hill site.

Back to the hotel a little earlier to get a good night sleep before an early departure tomorrow.

Day 3 of the 8th grade History Study Tour to the Boston area.

We had a beautiful day in Boston today. We started with a tour of the original State House and the site of the Boston Massacre. Then we moved to South Meeting Hall where we reenacted the debate preceding the famous Boston Tea Party. We then looked for the grave sites of some of the founding fathers that we portrayed at Copps Burying Ground. For lunch we sampled from the dozens and dozens of over priced options at Quincy Market.

In the afternoon, we toured the historic battlefields of Lexington Green and Concord North Bridge, concluding with a reenactment of the local militias driving the British Regulars off the bridge and back into town.

We are safely in for the night!

Please keep us in your prayers as we pass the half-way point of our trip.

Day 2 of 8th Grade History Study Tour of Boston area.

We are at our hotel for the night, actually for the next three nights.

Left early this morning to visit several sites near Plymouth MA, home of the Pilgrims. These included the National Monument to the Forefathers, Plymouth Rock, and Plimoth Patuxet Museums.

At the monument, we were surprised to see an Osprey next on top of the 80' statue. We hoped to see the Mayflower II, a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to Plymouth, but it's still at Mystic Seaport in CT finishing up it's overhaul. We'll see it on Thursday when we visit that site.

Had a great time at Plimoth Patuxet learning about the Wampanoag people, and the life of the immigrants from England. Students participated in Pike Drill as well.

In the afternoon we walked the north end of central Boston, visiting the 300 year old home of Paul Revere, walking a section of the Freedom trail, seeing the Old North Church steeple where the lanterns were hung to warn the countryside of the movement of British troops, the site of the great 1919 Molasses Flood, and popped into a couple of wonderful Italian bakeries.

For a first time ever on one of our Boston trips, the drive from the city to our hotel was fast and without traffic. It normally takes 45 minutes, today it took 14. We had supper in a mall food court and headed back to the hotel.

Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming the Highland View Academy Aerials team to Mt. Aetna! Their performance was incredible and truly lifted the spirits of our elementary and middle school students.

We are especially proud to share that several members of the team are Mt. Aetna alumni, and one performer is a current Mt. Aetna student. It is always inspiring to see our students, both past and present, pursuing their passions and achieving great things.

Thank you to the Aerials team for an unforgettable experience!
