📚Here are two fantastic new reads to add to your thankfulness bookshelf!

✨ Thank You For The Little Things: this book actually talks about how focusing on the small things can help when we’re feeling sad. I love the illustrations and the little things shown like a pet, or nature, or good food. It’s always special talking about being thankful with my kiddos, especially this time of year. The little things are truly a gift, and I love how this book showcases that!

✨ Harvest Days: Giving Thanks Around the World. This is a colorful and informative read sharing harvest celebrations around the world. There are facts on each page and a section in the back with further details on the featured countries. I think it’s so valuable for kids to learn how similar concepts are celebrated around the world! (It does not focus on harvest traditions in the United States).

Check these out or add them to your library list! Which one are you going to find?

Let's Talk About Dirt 10/20/2022

We are so excited to announce that I had the opportunity to do an interview with our local friends at the Pediatric Movement Center ☺️ We love PMC and their approach to play. In the interview, we talked a lot about play and its value. Someone special got to talk, too 😉 Make sure to check it out below!

Let's Talk About Dirt Spending time playing outside in the dirt and the sunshine gives us so many physiological, mental, and emotional benefits, but it also provides the opportunity to learn real skills in the real world. Learn 4 in-depth reasons that you should love dirt!

✋🏾 If I could only suggest FIVE toys, it’s these! All of these receive daily use at LLP and promote open-ended learning and creativity. Swipe over to see each one and why it’s on my list.

This list is based off my preschool kids: ages 3+. Some can be used for younger kids, some you would want to use caution (like magnetic tiles). However, these are all great for older kids, as they can grow with the child and be used for years and years!

Also, you may be wondering why wooden blocks didn’t make my Top 5 😱 They are amazing and I would put them at honorable mention #6 on my list. I’ve just personally found that the magnetic tiles are played with more by every age I have in my program, so that’s why blocks got bumped, haha.

There are so many great toys out there and everyone has their own opinion about what they love. Use what works best for your family! However, I can guarantee that these items will be a hit and make great gifts or additions to your play area at home.

What are some of your favorite open-ended toys?
