Why are transitions so tough for kids?

It’s not just that they “don’t want to stop playing.” There are real developmental reasons behind those tricky moments between activities:

⏰ They don’t fully understand time
🧠 Executive functioning skills are still developing
💥 Emotional regulation can be hard, especially when they’re asked to stop something they love
❓Not knowing what’s next can feel overwhelming

Learning to jump off of the ground is part of typical child development and typically happens right around the age of 3 (for some kids before age 3 and for some a little later).

This skill takes balance, coordination and strength and is a new concept for your child who is used to being in contact with the ground since she became mobile. Kids all learn to jump in their own time.

I have seen some kids jump up from the ground, two feet together on their very first try. Others seem to get stuck in the pattern of jumping with one foot leading, almost as if they are galloping.

But once they get it…WATCH OUT! They will be bouncing around like little Tiggers for weeks! Below are a few tips I use to get kids jumping quickly and with good form (and usually with BIG smiles too!).

Come in to play and make new friends!
Games, toys, building challenges, crafts, coloring and sensory activities take over the Children’s area for this great time together.

We’ll break for a quick hello song and one story at 9:45 and then more fun! Come and go as needed—and you're welcome to hang around and find books and play afterwards.

We are developing new programs that require MANY, MANY MORE of the larger building bricks and basic construction pieces of Lego!

If you have tubs or boxes of Legos no longer being loved at home, bring them in, and we will put them to work for STEM learning, building challenges and endless play developing minds so they can design the future!

The recalled apple juice has a "Best if used by" date code of DEC2824 CT89-6.

Great Value plastic bottles of apple juice sold at Walmart across 25 states has been recalled from manufacturer Refresco Beverages due to arsenic.

It is critical that we allow for babies to explore their environments at an early age. Outdoor play will challenge their senses, muscles, and cognitive skills in ways indoor play can never compete with. 💚
