Big shoutout to the incredible members of 581 Troop Command who recently completed a challenging and rewarding 23 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail, trekking from Wolfsville to Harpers Ferry! πͺποΈ It was a journey filled with teamwork, perseverance, and breathtaking views. Proud of you all for making it happen!

In alignment with Department of Defense (DoD) Instruction 5400.17 and recent Executive Orders issued by the President, the National Guard is reviewing its social media content to ensure compliance with DoD policies and priorities. As a result, certain posts have been removed or are in the process of being removed in accordance with federal guidance.
The National Guard is committed to transparency, professionalism, and adherence to DoD directives.

The 229 Band performing at the 154th Memorial Day ceremony in Sharpsburg.
The Sharpsburg ceremony has paid homage to our fallen soldiers since the inaugural ceremony at the dedication of the Antitem Cemetery by President Andrew Johnson

Our very own will be playing tomorrow in Sharpsburg
Mark your calendars, our wreath laying ceremony and parade-
THIS Saturday, May 29th-the wreath laying ceremony starting at 11:00 at the town's square. After the ceremony, there will be 20-30 minutes of music in the grass area in front of JSB (the bank in the square) performed by the 229th Maryland National Guard Band. The Parade will start from the Sharpsburg Elementary School at 1:30. It will proceed eastbound down Main Street and end at the National Cemetery. Some of the military and antique vehicles will be displayed for viewing on North Mechanic Street. THANKS! See you there!

When he signed up for the Maryland National Guard, Spc. Judah Metz did not foresee that he would help out with a mass vaccination site inside a former furniture store.
