09.25.25 This 6th grader, who is 2 yrs into taking guitar lessons with me, wound up in the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Before they sent him home, the surgeon came by to check him out & go over the things he couldn’t do until he was fully recovered.
“Do you have any ?’s”.
“When can I start playing guitar again?”
As a teacher, when I work with a kiddo that has such an obvious burning passion, & loads of curiosity, I tell myself “Do no harm. Don’t be a killjoy”.
Just do your best to keep the oxygen flowing his way & make sure he remains excited about learning new things. Throw some new ideas into the mix, get out of the way, & watch what happens.
It’s often awe inspiring.
