UMass Poultry Management

UMass Poultry Management Each semester we raise 50 broiler chickens as free range birds. With the use of a chicken tractor, we provide them with fresh pasture every day.

Since our beginning in 2011 we have grown from working with 15 Cornish Rock Crosses to 50 Rainbow Rangers to now working with 50 Black Rangers. UMASS Poultry Management is for anyone who is interested in learning about chickens or managing them on a rotational, free-range pasture system while providing hands-on experience. We educate our students on all aspects of the poultry industry. We also pro

vide our community with healthy, natural, locally grown broiler birds. Current TAs:

Hello Poultry Lovers!

From April 6th to 30th, friends and members of the UMass Veterinary and Animal Science community are taking up the challenge to raise $9000 for a John Deere Gator for use by the Livestock Program at the Hadley Farm. To jump start this effort, the UMass Center for Agriculture has already committed $4500! We are now working to raise the remaining $4500.

We’re raising funds for a John Deere Gator since this rugged little utility vehicle will enable us to transport feed, water, fencing, equipment, and even animals around the farm with greater efficiency and strength! Your support of our Gator-fundraising efforts will help us to continue providing excellent care and management for the animals that enhance the lives of UMass students every day!
