The 2026 DEBUT Competition winners are here! Fourteen winning projects and five honorable mentions were selected from more than 100 entries, earning a combined $190,000 in prizes for solutions addressing urgent challenges in health and clinical settings.

🎉 We’re proud to announce the seven academic teams selected for the inaugural VentureWell Ecosystem Futures Catalyst Grant.

Building on the momentum of the Ecosystem Futures Fellowship, the teams will spend the next two years strengthening STEM innovation and entrepreneurship at their institutions with strategic support and $85K in funding.

Special thanks to The Lemelson Foundation for their generous support of the Ecosystem Futures Catalyst Grant and to the I&E leaders driving this work forward.

We can’t wait to see how the teams expand opportunities for student innovators and strengthen innovation ecosystems on campuses across the country.

🌳 Restoring forest ecosystems is usually framed as a conservation challenge, but in rural India, Farmers for Forests India (F4F) is approaching it as an agricultural one.

The startup is working with local farmers to restore and protect biodiverse forest landscapes. The result? Healthier land and sustained economic development.

F4F was recently selected for Stage 1 of the Moonshot for Development (M4D) Open Innovation Challenge, a program we manage in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to advance locally grounded solutions to climate and development challenges.

Time and again, we have seen that the most durable solutions are not exported into a community but built by and with the people who live there.

The ten ventures selected for Phase 1 of the Moonshots for Development (M4D) Open Innovation Challenge are putting this into practice, building solutions alongside rural communities to help them navigate a changing climate and an uncertain economy.

In the months ahead, we’ll be working alongside these ventures and our M4D partners to help the teams validate their solutions, sharpen their models, and open viable pathways to pilot with International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and partner organizations.
