Version 2 of the UConn CLEAR Rain Garden App is available for download in the iPhone App store. The new version has a slicker interface and now includes rain garden plants, soils, and sizing information for CT, NJ, DE, and MD.

UConn's Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR) has an upcoming FREE webinar on the Gull Island Project. The island has a large concentration of nesting Common and Roseate Terns, but vegetation, including invasive plant species, has overtaken parts of the island causing loss of nesting habitat. This webinar will describe the history of the the island and our management efforts to improve tern nesting habitat. Check it out! NOAA is highlighting the Rain Garden App.

DOING SOME SPRING GREENING? How about a rain garden? Well, now there's an app for that: http://1.usa.gov/160cVE0. Rain Garden, a new free iPhone app, guides users on how to create and install rain gardens that curtail runoff of pollutants, prevent erosion, and provide wildlife habitat. The app was funded by the NOAA Sea Grant Climate Change Adaptation Capacity Building Initiative and developed by Connecticut Sea Grant and the University of Connecticut Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR).
