Coach Thornton will be teaching World History, Civics, and Economics, while also serving as an assistant basketball coach alongside Coach Bartmier and Coach Branham.

# # Educational Background

Coach Thornton earned a Bachelor's degree in History with Social Studies Teacher Licensure and is a proud first-generation college graduate.

# # Beyond the Classroom

History has always been a passion of his. In his free time, he enjoys reading and researching world history—this summer, he's been especially interested in the various revolutions throughout history. He also enjoys basketball (Go Spurs!) and spending time outdoors with his loved ones and his cat, Olive.

# # Why I Teach

Coach Thornton believes education is one of the most powerful tools for helping students understand the rapidly changing world around them. He sees Social Studies as a unique opportunity to connect students with both the past and the present while encouraging students to ask meaningful "why" questions. His goal is to help students make sense of the complex events, ideas, and people that have shaped—and continue to shape—our world.

We are excited to welcome Coach Thornton to the Hornet family and look forward to the impact he will make in both the classroom and on the basketball court.

Today, we celebrate the incredible retirees of the Hackett School District and thank them for their years of dedication, hard work, and service to our students and community. Their impact reaches far beyond the classroom walls; through the lessons taught, encouragement given, and lives changed along the way.

Good morning! Here is our schedule for the last week of school:

Monday: Semester Test Reviews

Tuesday: 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th Period Semester Tests (Boys Athletics will meet at the end of the day from 2:10–3:12 p.m.)

Wednesday: 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 8th Period Semester Tests (Girls Athletics will meet at the end of the day from 2:10–3:12 p.m.)

Thursday: Makeup Testing

Friday: No Students — Last Day of School

Please make sure students arrive on time, are prepared for testing, and attend all required testing sessions. Thank you, and have a great summer!
