Hackensack Middle School

Hackensack Middle School is closed today for Indigenous Peoples' Day.

🌎🧡 Indigenous Peoples’ Day: Our City’s Name. Our River. Our Land. Our Shared History.

Did you know that Hackensack’s history is deeply connected to the Lenape people, the Indigenous people whose ancestral homeland includes our region?

This Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize the rich history, knowledge, cultures, and continuing contributions of Indigenous peoples. From the origins of Hackensack’s name to the history of the Hackensack River, our local community has important stories to learn and share.

At Hackensack Middle School, we believe understanding the past helps us build a more respectful and informed future. Let’s take time to learn, reflect, and honor the Indigenous communities whose history is part of our own. 💙💛

💙💛 Welcome to Hackensack Middle School, Ms. Kotsev! 💛💙
We are excited to welcome Ms. Kotsev to the HMS family as our new Special Education Social Studies Teacher! While Ms. Kotsev is no stranger to Hackensack Public Schools, she is new to Hackensack Middle School, and we are thrilled to have her join our Comet community. ☄️
Help us give Ms. Kotsev a warm HMS welcome as she begins this new chapter with us!
