Today is Child Care Provider Appreciation Day, and I just want to say something to the provider who is running on caffeine, cold coffee, little sleep, and pure love.
To the one who gets up before the sun to prepare for the day before anyone else even arrives…
To the one who wipes tears, noses, bottoms, tables, counters, and somehow still manages to comfort everyone else while ignoring her own exhaustion…
To the one who feels guilty when she takes a day off, stressed when a parent is unhappy, and wonders if she’s doing enough…
You are.
You are doing more than enough.
These children may never remember the crafts, the meals, the songs, or the toys. But they will remember the feeling of being safe with you. Loved by you. Comforted by you.
And parents are handing you the most precious thing in their entire world every single day because they trust you that deeply.
That matters.
Even on the hard days.
Even on the loud days.
Even on the days you end up sitting in silence after everyone leaves because you are completely touched out and emotionally drained.
What you do is important.
What you do is valuable.
And the love you pour into these children every day changes lives more than you probably realize.
So today, I hope you stop for just a second and realize how incredible you truly are.
Happy Child Care Provider Appreciation Day. ❤️

As an occupational therapist, I look at color learning as more than just an early academic milestone. The ability to recognize colors, name colors, and use colors is directly connected to how a child participates in everyday activities. And, we use these skills in every therapy session!
Think about a typical therapy session: pick up the green craft pom poms and sort them into the green cup. This is a visual perceptual skill and we use these multi-step directions as part of our skill therapy interventions.
Or, maybe we use the colors of the Alert program when working on self-regulation. Then, we use color directions to work on handwriting skills (stop at the red baseline on modified paper).
Learning, viewing, recognizing, and manipulating objects of different colors is a therapy intervention strategy and functional task. Here's more on these milestones and how to support this skill: https://www.theottoolbox.com/learning-colors/

When people talk about kindergarten readiness, academics tend to get all the attention 📚
But the skills kids truly need to succeed in the classroom start long before worksheets ✨
We are breaking down the foundational skills that support learning, participation, and independence—like:
🧘♀️ regulating emotions and calming the body
🔁 transitioning between activities
🚽🧼 using the bathroom and washing hands
🧥🥪 managing clothing and lunch containers
👂📋 attending, listening, and following directions
🤝⏳ sharing, waiting, and taking turns
These are the skills that help children function in a real classroom—and they grow through play, daily routines, and supportive experiences over time 🎯
Kindergarten readiness isn’t about being ahead.
It’s about being ready for the day 💛

Little hands, big skills in the making! ✋✨
Our preschoolers have been busy strengthening their fine motor abilities by tracing lines with buttons—carefully placing each one to follow the path. This fun, hands-on activity builds coordination, focus, and control while keeping learning playful! 🔵➡️
We love watching their confidence grow with every button placed! 💛

We loved having a special visitor for the Week of the Young Child! 📚✨
A big thank you to Jaylen Jones for coming in to read to our students and share his love of learning. It makes it even more special knowing Jaylen is a Little Learners alum, graduating back in 2020! 💙
Time really does fly—now we’re excited to celebrate his sister, Jadia, who will be graduating this June! 🎓👏
Moments like these remind us that once you’re part of the Little Learners family, you’re always part of it. 💛
