Today, AJ took his first lesson ever in a small airplane. AJ demonstrated solid emotional regulation, great multitasking ability, perceptibility, and had a great attitude the entire flight. Charlie's week is off to a strong start! Today, he completed his second solo flight and gained confidence in the flight deck practicing maneuvers. With strong progress made, we plan to begin cross-country training tomorrow. Great job, Charlie!

This week, Ridge Arthaud continued making robust progress towards his Private Pilot Certificate. We met for some oral test preparation and scheduled his checkride. Ridge has shown great dedication to the ground preparation, and it is a pleasure to work with him. In the video, Ridge demonstrates slow flight, showcasing his ability to control the aircraft at slow airspeeds when the flight controls are slow to respond. This takes attention to pitch attitude, bank angle, while maintaining collision avoidance. Ridge did an excellent job with these things!

Please meet Ridge Arthaud, a Private Pilot learner from Boise City, Oklahoma. Ridge began training in December 2025 and joined the Air National Guard this year with an aim to become selected for a pilot slot. Ridge has shown great dedication and commitment to training, and I am grateful to work with him. Now in the stages of checkride (the exam for his pilot certificate) preparation, Ridge is polishing his flight skills and ground knowledge for the test. Ridge has made terrific progress; this week's clip is a highlight from one of his recent lessons.

Please meet Charlie Gumfory, a high school learner from Gruver, TX who started his flight training in December last year! Charlie has been making steady progress towards his Private Pilot Certificate and is in the Cross-Country phase of training. Here's a video from a recent lesson on a power-off stall and recovery that occurs during a simulated approach to landing. The aircraft has changing airspeed, bank angle, rate of turn, configuration (flaps), and altitude. With these changing variables, Charlie did a great job recovering from the stall and demonstrated excellence in safety!😃

As a flight instructor, one of the great privileges I have is teaching people of all ages how to fly and keep their skills sharp. I gained the honor of training with John David Wing last fall, and we have made some great memories flying. Enjoy a clip of a soft-field takeoff from one of our lessons! It is with great gratitude and joy that I am able to continue helping pilots stay safe and enjoy aviation. What once began as a nine-year-old's dream of spending time in the air has become a reality. I am indebted to many instructors, friends, and family members for their support and investment in my journey and the ability to continue teaching. Here's to another generation of future aviators!
