Some interesting data from a recent study on bat velocity.

Biggest takeaways: throwing med balls for velocity, doing isometric rotational training, plyometric training for the lower body (jumping) and lead arm velocity training are all potentially helpful in improving that velocity.

This was a study in division 1 softball players so if that applies to other levels of play, not sure. But it's probably a pretty good indicator that youth athletes should be working on exercises in those specific areas if bat velocity is of importance. Of course youth athletes should be working a lot of skills/exercises before specializing.

Regardless, those specific skills from the study and other exercise targeting youth athletes are a big part of our youth sports training here at The Armory!
