ASL Sign Language Group Guthrie is a group dedicated to and focused on learning and using ASL sign language. ASL is the language of the Deaf community and has its own word order and syntax. We want to help others learn this beautiful language and use the skills as they learn it. The "Silent Brunch" is an event that happens on the 3rd Saturday of each month at Simone's Cafe in Guthrie from 10am-1pm-ish. We need to have a minimum of 6 attendees to get the backroom for us to use! Please consider honoring Simone's by ordering at least a drink (or food too if you want). This is a come-and-go event, so don't think you have to stay for the entire time. Simone's Cafe is located on S Division in Guthrie.

A Silent Brunch gives you a great opportunity to socialize and meet other folks who know sign language, practice sign language as well as meet new people and make new friends! Everyone is welcome. It’s open to any level of signer from the brand-new just learned my ABC's, baby signers all the way to the most skilled! This group has been created to help others find connections in the Deaf world for learning ASL as well as to let folks know of other sign language events and maybe even get some advice on where or how to get started and to keep the learning enthusiasm going! By all means, please alert us to any other signing events in the central part of Oklahoma as we would love to let others know as well! Although we are ASL focused, we honor ANYONE who is trying to learn, just understand many folks in this group are trying to learn ASL (not PSE or SEE) so you will see MORE of this than the others. And don't be shy! Bring a notepad with you....if you don't know a sign, ASK via notepad....the idea is to USE your skills...even if that means spelling every word! Since this page IS dedicated to ASL, Sign language, & Deaf/signing events, please only post things that would fit in those categories. Everything not related will be deleted from the page and repeated abuses of those kinds of posts will get ya removed from the group.
