❤️🖤💚💙 Ready, Set, Go! Open House is tomorrow!
We are excited to welcome our South Todd families on Monday, July 27, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. This is a come-and-go event, so there is no need to arrive right when the doors open. Stop by anytime during the evening to meet your child’s teacher and visit the classroom!
Families who have not yet picked up their child’s placement letter may do so when they enter. Help will also be available for anyone who still needs to complete online registration before heading to the classrooms.
You are going to notice a couple of exciting changes when you arrive!
First, our new secure vestibule is now in place at the main entrance. This provides another important layer of safety by allowing visitors to be welcomed, identified, and assisted before entering the main areas of our school. We are very thankful for this improvement and for the added protection it provides our students and staff.
You will also see a lot of red, black, green, and blue throughout our hallways and classrooms.... and our staff members will be wearing shirts in those colors!
That is because this year we are introducing our schoolwide House System:
Four Houses. One Family.
A house is simply a team.... a smaller family within our larger South Todd family. Every student and staff member will belong to one of four houses:
❤️ Amistad — House of Friendship
🖤 Altruismo — House of Givers
💚 Isibindi — House of Courage
💙 Rêveur — House of Dreamers
Our staff members have already been sorted, and students will be sorted as soon as possible after the school year begins.
Each house has its own color, symbol, and traditions, but they all share the same purpose: helping every child feel known, valued, connected, and proud to belong at South Todd.
Students will earn house points throughout the year by showing kindness, responsibility, effort, leadership, good character, school spirit, and service to others. Our houses will celebrate together, encourage one another, enjoy friendly competition, and work toward shared goals.
We also want to clarify that although the word house may remind some families of books or movies such as Harry Potter, our House System is not connected to magic, fantasy, religion, or any fictional story. It is an educational program inspired by the Ron Clark Academy and used by schools across the country to strengthen relationships, leadership, school pride, and belonging.
House assignments are not based on academics, behavior, classroom placement, or teacher assignment. The purpose is not to divide staff and students, but to help them build friendships across grade levels and feel connected to our entire school family.
We cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow evening and begin this exciting new year together!
