‼️Results from SW CDE Day‼️

On Tuesday, October 6th, 25 ACGC FFA members headed to the SW CDE Day held in Atlantic, IA. Here are their results from the day!

Meat Evaluation:
🥇Champion Team: Sayer Bireline-Huss, Joe Fagan, Gavin Steensen, and Reece Emgarten
🥈Reserve Champion Team: Blake Hodges, Jaxen Knobbe, Cordell Wolfe, and Logan Stringer
🥉Third Overall Individual: Blake Hodges
🏅6th Overall Individual: Sayer Bireline-Huss
🏅8th Overall Individual: Joe Fagan

Floriculture:
🥉 Overall Team: Carrie Downing, Cora Fluharty, Meranda Gruber, Calleigh Wolfe
🥈 Reserve Champion Individual: Carrie Downing

Horse Evaluation:
🏅Team of Tatum Brittain, Tatum Harwood, Myra Ockerman, and Lilah Heinz competed receiving 9th overall.

Livestock Evaluation:
🏅Team of Blaire Robson, Tessa Slaybaugh, C**t Wilson, and Taryn Carroll received 9th overall.
🏅Team of Rylee Robson, Blake Ganzer, and Creighton Suhr received 12th overall.

Milk Quality and Products:
🏅Individuals that competed and represented well were Hayden Clarke and Mike Hayes.

Eight chapter members attended the SW District Soils CDE today! Two teams competed with our District Team of Garrett Lemke, Cole Van Meter, C**t Douglas, and Lilah Heinz receiving a silver rating!

Our second team of Ty Ganzer, Blake Ganzer, Sayer Bireline-Huss, and Carter Railsback also did well! While non-district teams do not receive ratings, their score would’ve landed them in the silver rated group as well! Congratulations to all!

🐄🌾 Investing in young people means investing in the future of agriculture.
The@community1stcu Youth Heifer Program gives students entering 7th or 8th grade in Fall 2026 an exciting opportunity to build hands-on cattle experience, develop financial responsibility, and grow leadership skills through livestock ownership.

Selected participants may receive up to five bred heifers through a five-year, zero-interest loan. Throughout the program, students gain real-world experience in herd management, recordkeeping, decision-making, goal setting, and caring for livestock. By the end of the program, they have the opportunity to build a small herd of their own. 🐮

This program is about more than cattle. It helps young people build confidence, responsibility, agricultural knowledge, and a foundation for future success in our industry.

Our chapter members tried something new today, we attended the Clay County Fair Ag Classic! We had 5 different teams compete in different contests! We were so excited to be there and busy going all different directions, this advisor forgot to take some photos! We will get group photos posted later! However: here are the results of the day, and they speak for themselves on our members’ hard work and talent for what they enjoy!

Team of Cora Fluharty, Tatum Harwood, and Meranda Gruber placed 8th out of 14 teams in the Horse Evaluation. Cora was in the top 20 placing 14th overall!

Our Meat Evaluation Team placed 6th out of 15 teams at the event today. Team members were Joe Fagan, Gavin Steensen, Cordell Wolfe, and Reece Emgarten. Joe Fagan placed 13th and Gavin Steensen placed 25th individually overall!

We had two Livestock Evaluation teams compete today! Team one of Rylee Robson, Stella Largent, Jaxen Knobbe, and Tessa Slaybaugh placed 15th out of 75. Team 2 of C**t Wilson, Taryn Carroll, Blaire Robson, and Logan Stringer placed 24th out of 75!

Stella Largent placed 24th overall, Jaxen Knobbe placed 58th, Logan Stringer placed 63rd, Rylee Robson placed 73rd, C**t Wilson placed 90th, and Blaire Robson placed 98th out of 257 individual participants!

Our Poultry Participants were also placed as a team with just two individuals and placed 8th! Tatum Brittain placed 3rd overall as an individual, and Hayden Clarke placed 13th!
