‼️ NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION‼️

The one time a year we get to hang out with 70,000+ of our closest friends in blue and gold!

This week was JAM PACKED with activity and opportunity for nine ACGC FFA members. Tuesday morning we left Audubon, IA and headed East for our first stop at KINZE Manufacturing. Members learned about the story of the Kinze business and got to build some pretty cool grain carts!

The second stop was to the Kalona Cheese factory and Amish country. They got the chance to listen about the processes for dairy products and shop around the local grocery store.

After this we had a delicious lunch at Brenneman Pork and following, was a tour of their outstanding facilities. Members learned all about the commercial pork industry and the growth this business personally has seen since its start.

We ended our day Tuesday with a trip to the scariest haunted house in the nation, The Darkness in St. Louis, MO.

We were up Wednesday morning and had the privilege of touring the Animal Export Center at the St. Louis airport.

For the second stop, we traveled to Anheuser-Busch and learned about fermentation and the different processes that occurred there. And of course - we got to learn and see the all-famous Clydesdales as well.

The last stop of the day was to Busch stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals. We learned about the stadium(s) history as well as the team’s. A mini pit stop was made at the arch for a photo to round out the St. Louis portion of the trip.

Thursday was Convention Day! We started the morning listening to keynote speaker, A’ric Jackson, as well as listened to their peers speak on various topics. Roughly 64,000 were at opening session this morning. They also had the opportunity to talk to over 100 educational booths at the college and career show. Members also had a little fun with some clothes pins along the way. 🙂

Tomorrow - we head home to Iowa!

During the first part of the month, our chapter ran a Socktober Drive at the elementary schools in our district. The class that brought in the most pairs of socks collectively across the whole district would win a pizza party with FFA Members.

We celebrated with the 1st graders for collecting in 213 pairs as a grade on Friday! Total, the schools collected 964 pairs of socks for our pantries. Our chapter is grateful for the support of the community through this project!

Here are the totals:
1st - First grade (213 pairs)
2nd - Fourth grade (171 pairs)
3rd - Kindergarten (129 pairs)
