A commenter reminded me, a few posts back, about the Louise Bates Ames series based on the work of the Gesell Institute of Human Development. Each book is titled Your _____ Year-Old (fill in the age). I have read all of them up until Your Five-Year-Old. Maybe by then I thought I had it figured...

Situation has been resolved. Lockdown is over! Thank you Gurnee Police Department for keeping us safe and informed!

LifePointe is on 'soft' lockdown this morning. Gurnee Police are in search of an escaped felon from the Lake County Detention, who is believed to be armed. He is in the area, but closer to highway 41 than us. We have two patrolmen in the parking lot for extra protection. I have spoken directly to the police station and they do not believe we are in any danger but a soft lockdown was advised.
LifePointe children and staff are all in a safe area. There is no need to be alarmed, there is no need to pick up your child or to call or panic. Our building is secure and all children have been moved to the big preschool room with limited windows. We're making a fun day with lunch served in there and a movie for the next 30 min!
REPEAT: there is no alarm at this point. I will keep you updated!
If you are picking your child up at 1:00, please do not allow anyone to come in the building with you that is not approved or a parent. As always, do not hold the door open or be courteous! Safety of our children/staff come before manners!
