Maria Montessori worked with Gandhi in India.
Hundreds of Montessori schools were established before World War II as a result of Maria Montessori's groundbreaking teaching methodology. All of this stopped when the war began. Due to the closure of all Montessori schools in Germany and Italy, Maria was compelled to leave her home in Barcelona and relocate to England. Maria had the chance to interact and collaborate with significant Indian figures such as Gandhi, Nehru, and Tagore when her three-month speaking tour in India ended in a seven-year house imprisonment.

She held that peace is the ultimate aim of education and that our desire for a more peaceful world is rekindled with every new generation of kids. Maria Montessori started out as a doctor, but her work as an educator is what made her most famous.
